The only thing spanking does is to teach a child how to be violent.

Spanking never works.
I understand you are frustrated. Has your child been properly diagnosed? ADHD diagnosis or mis-diagnosis is being handed around like Halloween candy.
You can get you child evaluated if you havn't already.
In the mean time, set out clear well defined rules and consequences. Say what you mean and mean what you say and follow through!
Positive reinforcement works well. Tell your child when they are being good and on occasion offer a treat like a sticker for being good.

Easier said than done I know, I am a preschool teacher, I have 20 of them.

Good luck.

If you tell me more specifics I will try to help you more, ie age of child, type of behaviour and so on.

I really don't think it does. I think after a while, the child may do something to evoke a spanking because they want the physical touch for attention as they're all mixed up about affection or don't know how to handle affection.

Spanking as you like to call it doesn't work whether you have ADHD, leprosy or two heads. Hitting a child is a tool used by gutless, impatient parents, who wouldn't have a clue, and is generally used in place of patience and guidance.
ADHD is a manufactured disorder conjured up by those that should have the answers, but dont.

First, how old is this child....
Then think about what ADHD is,
hyper and short attention span....how long will he remember why he got that spanking. I bet he will remember how much it hurt and that you are the one that hurt him.
As for the hyper part of it, cut sugars and starchy foods, see if that helps before some doctor suggest "doping up" your child.

their is a such thing as adhd, because my brother has it. if you havent already, get him or her on some meds or just sit down and talk to your child and see what him/her like to do. You write those things down and make up a schedule to keep him or her occupied. They get bored very easily and it causes them not to focus or to focus on one thing only! spanking doesn't work!

I believe spanking has it's place in punishment, I think under certain circumstances spanking is an option. But, if he/she is just getting on your nerves as a side effect of her "disease" then I would say no.

Spanking will never work, so never resort to it. It will only instil negative thoughts and emotions in a child.
