I was spanked in this position as well as over the knee as a child and would like to know if the diaper position is appropriate in child-rearing

I dont think so. As long as when you spank them, make sure you try to explain to them, (no matter what age) on what they did. And of course, dont do it too much, only try to do when its really necessary. I also heard on the radio, on a talk show, that when you discipline a child by spanking(not too much of course) it makes them more successful in the future. It makes them more disiciplined to things themselves, Just by your way of teaching, and disciplining.

I realize that spanking is an issue that people are on both sides of the fence and I personally don't ever spank my child. I do think that spanking is a personal issue best left up to the parents. That said I think if your child is still in diapers, then he is too young to be spanked, period. In order for spanking to be effective, A child has to understand that spanking is a result of their actions and not an act of violence. I don't think a child in diapers is old enough to understand that concept.

We ll you not suppose to spank your child too much because you might leave marks on the child and if anyone see the marks u could get in trouble if a child misbehave just hit him a couple of time and yelling will help do. But i think you should give a child a time out like punish by taking away they positions like TV or video games a child will learn.

NO!!! you never spank a child in the diaper position!! Over the knee is okay. I prefer having them hold their ankles. That way it is shorter time spanking beause it makes their legs hurt

IN MY EXPERIENCE AS A MOTHER AND CHILD CARE GIVER I SEE THAT IF YOU SPANK THE CHILD IN THE DIAPERING POSITION, THEN THAT CHILD WILL FIGHT YOU WHEN DIAPERING IS GOING ON. THIS ONLY MAKES SINCE WOULD YOU LAY STILL IF YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO GET SPANKED?

This is not a personal attack on you by any means but;

Spanking is wrong, it sends a mixed signal to children that "violence is ok as long as there is a good reason behind it". Watch Nanny 911 or pick up a few books. Spanking is not acceptable, we are not living in the 1960's.

There are plenty of other punishments, or god forbid try TALKING to your children before you smack them. We all want to hit each other but self control really helps. My point, don't spank try using some other methods they really do work.

You have just proven my point that hitting a child only ends up in teaching that child to hit. Thank you. Spanking a child in ANY position is never appropriate, unless of course you are trying to teach the child to resort to violence when they don't get their way and to later in life hit just like you're parents taught you...and they did such a GREAT job of it.

Yelling and spanking? Clearly some people should not have children!
