What are some options and/or resources out there? Although I have a savings account for my children, what more can I do to help them out in the long run? Nothing risky, I just want to be able to provide for them when the time comes.

My mom wants to know if its right to tell other parents to be careful around my sister (who is lesbian and 21 years old) that she (my sister)normally has relationships with minors? Or is it wrong? My mom would prefer if you answer in Spanish, but if you dont speak Spanish, then it's ok!

I've been separated from my childrens father for appox. 2 years. I have met a fantastic, terrific man, who I absolutely adore. My children have seen him online but don't know it's Mom's new man. How do I explain my new relationship to them and make them comfortable about it.

you buy Luvs (or your favorite discount brand) instead of the expensive mess like Huggies Supreme? I buy luvs for my son, and I always feel bad when I even see the welfare moms buying Pampers and Huggies Supreme for their baby. I mean, I could afford them but why? Logically, it does not compute with me. Cheap diaper works great...it's being used as a waste receptacle anyways, go with it. I also never had one of those hi-speed baby carrier thingies for my son that clicks into bases in the car and in the matching stroller. I had one that was a hand me down from a friend, and that is what he used until I bought his big car seat. Bad mamma huh?

My husband and I co-sleep with our son,he started rolling over lastnight and we have a pillowtop mattress,so I feel like it is getting to be to dangerous for him to keep sleeping with us.Since he was born, I always tried to get him to sleep in his crib, but he never would,I have tried everything. It got to the point I was so sleep deprived, that I had to try anything to get some sleep.Has anybody else ever went thru this, what did you do to get your child to finally sleep in their crib?

I am divorced from B's, father. We will call him M, & her sister's, N, father,we'll call him E. B never lived with N's father.
B had not seen E, since B was 9. Now, just lately, B is 18, & talks to E quite often on the cell. Note that E is currently in Iraq and can't keep his promises.
E gave mama STD's in the marriage, B knows this, E is $15,000 behind in support for N, E has 3 kids by 3 mamas, 1 mama is dead, & boy lives with his paternal grandparents, support is owed, & has boy with now wife. For B, within the last few weeks, E's chats have taken priority in her life, they had not spoken for over 6 years. B is talking E into promising things for B that M, wants/wanted to do for B but doesn't have the money or time. Inclusive of making M wait while B chats with E on the cell.
This is being kept a deliberate secret from M and N, E's natural child, B's father & all others. First, Do I ask her why? Second, Do I tell M and N? Third, Do I tell her how this hurts mama?

I've been put in charge of getting a list of recommended parenting books together. So was hoping everyone could list their faves for me please. I only have a couple so far. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE "How To Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk". If there was a parenting manual this book would be it but it's not for just kids at all and think it should be required reading for everyone especially teachers. Also "It Takes A Parent" and "The Well Trained Mind" but that one's more for HSers. Thanks for any help!

When my second daughter had colic I was told to just let her cry herself to exhaustion. I couldn't do that so I did research a found some useful tools in calming her. And now that my daughter is 8 months old she wakes up in the middle of the night crying, I tend to her. I was told to let her cry herself to sleep. But she'll cry for hours before that happens. I can't bring myself to just let my daughter cry herself into a frenzy. So, what do you think? Have you let your baby/child cry it out? Do you believe the doctors are correct in telling parents to do this?

a lot of parents spank their children but lets face it, spanking is just another name for hitting. but for some reason spanking is considered ok while hitting isn't. both are a way of diciplining a child and both cause pain. Are parent who spank just abusive parents with a different lable?

They are hilarious. It's like, you're stuck watching Blues Clues and Oobi, and then this little skit comes on advertising for Noggin where the adults that work for Noggin are singing the Franklin song, or something else. It's so funny.
