My experience is the closer in age, the better relationship between them. Don't worry about how much work it is for you. My sister and I are 17 mo. apart, and we are best friends. I have six kids, and the ones closest in age are the closest friends. Oldest boy and girl are 18 mo. apart teens and they double date and hang out together, middles boys are 3 years from older and younger siblings and hang out with other friends more than family, and youngest boy and girl are 15 mo. apart and they are thick as theives (thats a good thing). I would have to say its like giving your child their best friend. Plus if you must, you can potty train same time, take bottles/binkies same time...people will discourage you from having two kids under a certain age, but just get the diapers over with once and for all.

hmmm. 3 to 4 years....

I have four. My oldest two are 18 months and 2 days (exactly appart). Oldest is a boy my second child is a girl. I WISH I would have waited a year or two more between them. Even though they are SUPER close!

Between my second and third there is over 2 and a half years. I like this age difference even better.

And there is 2.5 years between my middle son and my baby son.

Now, there are 8 years between my sister and I. And we are VERY close!

My kids are 25 months apart and they've been best of friends forever (daughter oldest, son youngest). Worked for them. My sister and I are also 2 years apart and we get along well although growing up I had another younger sister and they did tend to stick together.

My brother and I were 3 years apart and we are great friends. My cousins were 2 years apart and fought constantly. My other cousins were 6 years apart and they barely speak. They don't dislike one another, they just don't have a relationship.

2 years. Any younger and they will get in trouble together. Any older and they won't be able to relate much.
