I think a biggie for me has been that MY feelings, viewpoints and experience will not necessarily be the same for my son. My parents were very low-risk and overprotective. They didn't want me to do anything they hadn't done themselves, and that left very few options open. My son has traveled the world, lived in several different places, and is much more outgoing than I ever was. He's just shy of 17. I trust him and make it a point to put fears and worries aside when he wants to try something. It's his life, not mine.
