I am 25 years old and married. My wife and I are wanting to start trying for a baby soon in the next year or two. My mother is trying to discourage me from having a child. I think its because she has never liked my wife and we have been together for 5 years. Since the day she met my wife she has hated her. She even tried to break our engagement up many times.

When I have talked about having a baby with my wife my mother does the following:

Makes sour faces
Says I am a “little boy” and I shouldn’t be having children
Says I am “messy” and I will not be patient enough to have a kid of my own.
She says she is “too young” to be a grandmother. (she is 49)

I am so sick of her. I am thinking about telling her to buzz off if she is that upset with me having a kid. I don’t live with her and she doesn’t pay my bills, why can’t she shut her mouth?

How do you deal with other people's opinions when you are starting a family?

My kids were taken when his sister was diagnosed as being "failure to thrive" she is 2. There are 4 kids in all, and the 7 year old is the oldest. I have tried explaining what happened and told him it's not his fault. The soical workers want to label him as a bad kid, but he has been through a lot, and has been in 4 homes, one 50 miles away, and 3 schools! He was close to his baby brother and they were sperated and sent in different homes. The plan is for reunification, but until then, he is very angry inside and he cries a lot. I so worried about him. Child protective services did not invistigate deep enough and when this came out in court, they still wouldn't return the kids right away, but opted to put my 7 year old an d his baby brother iwth my parents for temp placement, and the other two will follow soon.. Any suggestions until then?

I am a young mother of a 2 year old. Until now i was working as a customer care executive, working from home, in evening shift. Although this allowed me to spend time with my kid, but this also affected her in that she slept late with me, and woke up late as well. Also I could not take her out as i used to work in evenings and I could not spend sufficient time with my husband.I was ok with the work. But now, I have found another job which gives me some mental work out, but i will have to move out for 9 hours+ commuting time during the day. I'm confused what should i do. What should my priorities be. Please suggest.

I don't mean in the backyard...I mean like we did growing up. We'd leave our house in the morning and come back before dinner...our mother NEVER worried. Can we do that today?

I believe adhd is highly misdiagnosed. The doctor and teachers have suggested medication. I do not want to do this to her. She is always recognized as being an above average student. She is diciplined by us very well and still nothing seems to work. She is very inattentive and this gets her in trouble at school. We have had meetings with her teachers and they say she is very talkative and disruptive in class. She can not be still sometimes, and then she will sit down and read a book at other times. I do not want to make a mistake by making a beautiful child a medicated mess....please help.

She had her surgery last Monday. She was admitted to the hospital on Friday for dehydration. She was also vomiting and had a fever. She came home Saturday. She still doesn't/won't eat. She normally has a very big appetite. I have to force her to drink. I bought everything they said to give her: popsicles, jello, noodle soup, sherbert, pudding, kool-aid. We saw the ENT today and he said that her throat is very dry even after all the fluids I've been pushing( Atleast 8oz total every hour). He also said she's at higher risk for bleeding when the scabs start falling off. Anyone else have problems post-op? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I realize that I have stress factors in my life but so does everyone else. I try to be a good role model for them but I know that my behavior when they start getting on my nerves is not very ladylike. I have tried the calm, gentle approach and they act like they don't hear me talking. They are primarily pretty good girls but sometimes they push the envelope. I want to be firm but not disrespectful. I don't want them to have filthy mouths because my mom used to fuss and cuss at me when I was growing up. I am a professional woman and some of my peers would probably be shocked to know that my mouth is as bad as that of a sailor at times. FYI, I don't call my girls names like b***h or anything like that, but I will say a bunch of other expletives. I don't like it when I get this way. I need some techniques to express myself as well as to calm myself before I address them. I have 2 girls, 14 and 11 and I am a divorced mother. Their father is not in the picture so don't suggest him.

last friday...I posted the question about my daughter indicating to me that a little boy at her daycare had been touching her. I took her to the doctor that me, and all though there was no physical trauma, it was in my doctors opinion that it did occour.

I notified the facility. They said that CPS had toget involved..which they do...but they keep trying to scare me by saying CPS is going to look at you...CPS is coming to your house...CPS is going to think it is suspcious if you change daycares.....

I have never delt with CPS, although my living arangement is sorta strange (I live with my parents, my brother and his girlfriend (who share a room), I think that we provide a very nurturing home environment....what should I expect?

My daughter is very smart and is very adament that this is happening at school, by a certain boy.....and I believe her, but why is the daycare trying to scare me? I was greeted at the door by their lawyer today, wholet me now CPS was coming for me....

My husband and I have been together for 5 years and married for 1.5 years. We plan to get pregnant next year and our baby will be born when we are 25 and 27 if everything goes right.

We will have our house mortgage paid off next year, and we will have $0 debt. I have a college education and we both have been at our jobs for a couple of years and make a good living.

My mother doesn't want me to have children because she thinks I will have no patience for my children and she thinks I should wait until I am 30 before I get pregnant.

My husband and I rented some movies on pregnancy and babies, and my mother saw the receipt in my car. She frowned and had this unhappy look on her face.

We are happy together and want to start a family, we have had our dog since he was a puppy and he is 2.5 years old and I have tons of patience with him and he is hyper and a pain in the butt!

How do I deal with my mother, she thinks she is entitled to say what she wants about my future kids!

My husband and I are planning to get pregnant fairly soon, our first baby will be born when we are 25 and 27 if all goes right.

My mother is not happy about us having a child because she thinks I don’t have a lot of patience. She thinks I should wait until I am 30 that way "I will have more patience" according to her.

My husband thinks I do have patience because I deal with him and our dog all of the time, and thats not easy task.

I think I just don’t have patience for my mother because she is negative and bitter about everything I do. She is always trying to control me and boss me around.

Do you think you gain more patience when you have a child?

Do you lose patience when you have a child?

We are having a baby no matter what and my mother will see she is wrong in her accusations. I have tons of patience with kids who aren't mine, I think I will tolerate my own flesh and blood. My mom is just screwed up.

I am so ready 2 quit school. I have no time 4 my 15 m/o baby boy. I babysit my nephews during da days just so dat i can B wit my son, but i don't give him all my attention since i have 2 other kids 2 look after. As soon as they all go down 4 their nap, i start getting ready 4 school (college). Once my mother or sister get home, i run out da door 2 catch a train 2 school. i'm at school all night & don't get home til like10pm. By da time i get home, my baby wants 2 go 2 sleep & i can't even lay down wit him bcuz i have 2: clean up whatever mess he made, wash his bottles, take a bath and do homework.Dis routine repeats itself mon -fri.I don't give my son da attention he deserves! When i finally do get a break from all da chaos, i jus want time 2 myslef & i feel bad bcuz i should want 2 spend it wit my son. i'm only 20 yrs old & i understand dat i have responsibilities but i'm just so tired. i'm tired of dealing wit kids, tired of being rushed 2 finish school. I just wana b wit my baby =(
