Not every child starts walking as soon as they turn one. Does she get or has she experienced ear infections?? I know my first son experienced bad ear infections, thus resulting in his not being able to walk because his equilibrium was off. The doctor ordered tubes by the time he was 15 months old and still not walking, two weeks after the tubes were in, he was trying to run! Sometimes a little fluid in the ears that goes undetected, will cause the equilibrium to be off. Just watch her, and I am sure if her ears are okay, she will be walking before you know it. Contact your child's pediatrician if it is really bothering you, or if there is the possibilty of ear problems.

No. *Average* age to take the first steps is 9-17 months. She's not even late yet. In fact, my daughter pulled herself up at 7 1/2 months old but only took her first steps when she was 17 1/2 months. Once she could crawl across the room and stand up when she got there, she was more interested in talking than walking.

No, dont be concerned she's doing fine. Children will walk anywhere from 9-15 months and still be in a normal range of development. As long as she is pulling up to a stand and cruising furniture she's doing great.

No. I have a friend whose daughter didn't walk until she was 18 months old. She's four now, and she runs circles around the other kids. Your daughter will get there eventually, so fer cryin' out loud don't try to push her to get there. Once she does start walking she'll be going so fast that you won't be able to keep up with her, and at that point you'll wish she was crawling again!

No! Your daughter is being careful. When she gets very comfortable with the standing thing, she'll start taking steps.

My son started walking at 14 months. The difference between him and another child who started at 10 months is that the 10 month old fell quite a bit. Once my son was ready to walk he was very ready and had no awkwardness. (BTW, that was in 1983.)

Hi I have a 2 yr old son and when he was a baby he was constantly getting ear infections. I finally found a Dr., that said enough is enough and told me he needed tubes. I will tell you the honest to goodness truth the day he had his tubes put in he started to walk. It was a miracle. His speech also improved, he has since lost the first set of tubes and unfortunately they had to replace them because he was getting infections again and he speech was starting to go. Talk to the Dr and tell them to do a tympanogram it does not hurt the baby at all

No. It takes some children longer to learn how to walk. For example my sister start walking when she was only 7 mths old and I when I was 14 mths. I am doing OK now.:)
But I hope you are taking your daughter to doctor regularly at least every three months?

Every child develops at different rates. I would suggest holding her hands and walking with her. Try to encourage her. She'll get it. If you are taking her for her check-ups and the doc isn't concerned, then you shouldn't be either and if you don't trust the doc she's seeing, change doctors
