Parenting - July 2006

I have tried rewards,charts,underwear etc. He will be going to pre-school in the Fall. He will be the only child going in his pants.
He knows he has to go on the potty but he seems to be rebelling and goes in his pull-ups. I am so frustrated. I even took him to a child psychologist to help with the problem. I followed his suggestions but my son was not buying it. Can anyone help?

Then get bent out of shape when someone posts something inappropriate? Do parents not believe that it is their own fault? How do you justifie in your mind that you are exposing your kids to nasty things? Why do you blame society and want the FCC to fix everything when you are capable of turning off the tv and computer? If a child is left on the computer alone and accidentally goes to a porn site should the parent be charged with neglect and child abuse?

8 years ago, I got pregnant. My boyfriend demanded that I have an abortion, which I agreed to, and then he left me for someone else. We never spoke again.

I decided not to abort and kept the child. I never reported him as the father anywhere. I would have told the father of my decision, but we lived in two different cities and I had no contact information for him. His number was unlisted and my attempts to find him failed.

Recently, I found a way to contact him after all these years and I think I should let him know I kept the baby.

If I do this, does he have any rights to my child anymore? Can he try to take me to court for anything? What is the worst that could happen?

We are in Texas.

Cheap car seats and strollers, Wal-Mart shoes and clothes, and etc? I am guilty of all the above. I feel bad that I just re-used a hand me down car seat and bought another stroller that is not a mate for it when I had my baby. I feel like everyone else in the world had all the high speed stuff, and I always feel like shi@t when I see those cute little $200 combos that I just didn't get for my kid. Well, do you look down on people like us? If so, why? I dress myself in Wal-Mart clothes too. I buy myself cheap things. We are not broke, just thrifty. But it still makes me feel bad sometimes.

My 2 daughters who act like teenagers already are only 10 and 8years old try to tell me what to do. I do spank them when they get out of hand and I don't spank them when I'm angry. But I just don't know how I can get them to do things around the house and to listen...please help?!

My neighbor is always spanking her kid because that seems to be the only thing that the kid will respond to. When talking and punishing seems to not work with child disipline is spanking an acceptable alternative?

For infants, and the best for active 10year olds. I know they will be 2 different sunblocks so don't treat me like I'm stupid please. This guy had skin cancer and said that they are supposed to have 2 key ingredients 1 is Titanuim dioxiode and the other is???? i can't remember. Coppertone doesn't have either one of them so I am looking foe different brand Please

My sister wants to take my children to an amusement park today and it's supposed to hit 103 degrees. I think that's too hot for a 4 and especially 2 year old. My husband thinks I'm being overprotective. Would you send your kids out in that heat?

My nine and a half month old little girl is a happy little soul, she rarely cries, sleeps for a good 12 hours at night and naps for 3 hours during the day. BUT, in the last two to three weeks she has been having tantrums, not crying but actually getting really angry, so much so that she clentches her fists and goes red and screams at you, if your close enough to her she hits you too!

I have two older children who both had the usual terrible twos but none that started this early.

any suggestions?
