I work at a hotel, and the only place they are not allowed to be barefoot is the restaurant. Safety is the main reason for that though, if they come in and slip or step on a peice of glass that somebody missed from a broken glass then the hotel will have to deal with all the drama. As for the pool, it's recommended that you wear water shoes because of all the people that walk around there, have you ever heard of athletes foot? Do you prefer your son gets that? What's the big deal anyhow? Get him some easy slip on shoes that don't take much to put on, why make a stink??? I honestly don't understand parents like you. If the hotel has a policy about wearing shoes, adhere to it without the fuss or stay at a Motel 6. It's not all about you. When we stay at hotels, unless we are going down the hall for ice, we have our shoes on. Choose your battles wisely.

I let my sons go barefoot on the way to the hotel pool. I don't think there is much more of an issue with this than letting them go barefoot in any public place. I suppose they might contract athlete's foot but that is about the biggest risk they would run

I wouldn't argue with him either. My kids go barefoot all year round. The huge issue we have is that when we have to go out to a place that requires footware, I have trouble finding a pair of shoes for them! Leave him be. It's not a battle worth fighting.

if you don't really have to walk, outside, esp, like from your room to a indoor pool, i do it all the time! I go outside too, and a small child is prone to lose his flip-flops, esp, when he's eager to get into the pool. Don't sweat it, but i would try to see that he dosen't walk around in the parking lot or anything barefoot.

no, you are not wrong, you can raise your kids however you wanna raise them. So let them run barefoot, just don't let them run naked because then they would get put out. lol j/k did the people at the hotel ay anything to you about that?

My son's (3 of them) hate shoes of any kind! I tell them to put their shoes on but it seems like they are always getting out without them! Personally, if they are not getting hurt, i think it is no big deal.

we wear shoes for a reason...use your own judgement. You can contractr things like planter's warts, pinworms, infantiago, athlete's foot, and many other ailments...not to mention stubbed toes, cuts and abrasions from foreign objects...which always runs the risk of possible infection.

I don't see anything wrong with it. As long as you bathe your child then no reason to make them ware shoes all the time. My own kids take their shoes off all the time no matter where we are and they don't have issues.
