My sister wants to take my children to an amusement park today and it's supposed to hit 103 degrees. I think that's too hot for a 4 and especially 2 year old. My husband thinks I'm being overprotective. Would you send your kids out in that heat?

It is too hot for the small children to be outside longer than 15 mins. You should ask your sister to take them in a cooler month like Sept/ October. Most amusement parks will list their operation hours on line and are open on weekends. Plan a date together and then the kids will have something to look forward to .In the heat and such a long day that is a disaster. the long lines and a fussy child with no nap who will have fun? I have a 3yr old. If she does not take a nap she is a beast and we ALL become miserable.I the cooler months things like that are much more enjoyable.

In the mean time have your sis take them to the zoo, park or movies. Small children will enjoy this more.

All that metal and blacktop? Is she crazy? When the weather is warm IF they have a water park I'd take my kids and do that part lathered up with sunblock. Then later when it was cooler do the rides, BUT NOT in 100 degree weather. That is stay at home, in some A/C or pool. Go to the mall to stay cool. Whatever, but NOT go to the amusement park. My kids are ages 14, 11, and 4.

It's too hot for anyone especially children. The weather person advised people stay in today due to the extreme heat. Do not let those young children go. If it does happen use a lot of sunscreen and make sure they drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Tell your husband he's an idiot for calling you overprotective. Does he want his children to DIE from heat stroke.

That's too hot for anyone to go to the amusement park. I'd suggest going just for the evening (when it's a bit cooler) or going in the spring or fall.

No, I would not take my daughter in that kind of heat. In fact, we turned down an invitation this week due to the heat/humidity.

I would still go but hopefully the amusement park has some attractions that include water play. I would periodically take breaks from the heat there or somewhere indoors. Use plenty of sunblock and hats, dress them in light colored, loose fitting clothes and have plenty of water to keep them hydrated.

i think the heat has already affected your sister's brain cells.
you have the right instinct and better sense when it comes to parenting skills. your hubby might need a brain vitamin supplement if you can run to the store and get him some for thinking you are over protective. these children are your babies and you are right to be cautious with the high temps. tell your sister thanks, but not today. stick with your guns. you obviously are the brains in the family. take care now and take care of your kids. they are your gift from GOD.

Nah! I take my son out when it is that hot. He is almost 3. 103 is normal here in Redding, Ca. Just make sure they are drinking all the time.

UMMMMM its too hot for the dogs to be out- its too hot for US to be out so Ummmmm YES YES YES its way too hot for a small baby! One they burn much easier! Two their breathing is not quite as good as ours is! Maybe outside for a few minutes is ok- but for a long period of time I would say no. Heat stroke and all that! Your husbands family is WRONG! Your being a wonderful mother- listen to your instincts and let them moan and groan all they want! This is not their child she is yours and u r doing the best for her! Tell them to kiss your sunburnt butt!

Nope, I wouldn't be at an amusement park, unless it was a water park in those temperatures. That's just me though. It definately isn't smart if you ask me...but if she does take them make sure she keeps them plenty hydrated and cool. Best wishes!
