Nope. I had 6 kids, stair steps, but back then we used cloth diapers, wash em, use em again! Now a days people use what they think is best for them. Maybe the Pampers brand was on sale that you didn't know about? Maybe that was the mothers way of splurging, maybe the Pampers brand had a coupon that you didn't know about? Don't feel guilty about the small stuff sweetie, in a couple of years the BIG stuff will have you second thinking yourself, disposable diapers should not be a concern. Oh and the car thingy, girlfriend please, a car seat is a car seat as long as it holds the kids in place. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Don't let it bother you. Luvs were a much better diaper than the more expensive brands when my children were babies. The absorbed so much better than Huggies. My eldest was in a cast, and as a result, I had to trim the edges of the diapers. Pampers and Huggies did not work for this but Luvs, and at the time, the Toys r Us brand diapers too, were much better. Next time you see a welfare mom wasting money, do not get ashamed of yourself, get mad at these people for wasting YOUR tax dollars.

Well, the type of mother you are should not be based on what brand of an item you buy for your child. Also, if you obsess about these things-there may be another issue that you are not dealing with here. I can tell you that the important things that says you are a good mother has nothing to do with worrying about what other people are buying or not buying for their children. The statement you made about "welfare mothers" was just outright ignorant. I am not defending anyone but the statement that you made "is what it is".
What makes you a responsible mother (take mental notes please):
1. You love your child(ren) and you show them that you do.
2. You are not abusive towards your child(ren) in any form.
3. You provide food, clothing, shelter.
4. You make sure that they are being properly educated regularly (going to school if age appropriate).
5. You provide a safe and stable environment for your child(ren).
If you are not doing any of the things listed above then-you might want to ask yourself that question again.
Hope this helps.

Actually consumer reports rate Luvs as the best buy for your money so you are a very wise mother. It is more important to teach your child good spending habits than it is to have them in the most expensive diaper. Save your money and put it towards a family vacation or their education something that will last them and not end up in the diaper genie two hours after they put it on! Besides some of the women you see on welfare may not have needed assistance if they were as money wise as you!

You're not a bad parent; you're just using common sense. Now I wish I could use Luvs, but my son has a Houdini winky when he wears Luvs . . . he manages to pee and none of it is in his diaper! Because of that, I'm a Huggies mom. I buy tons of them when they are on sale and I use my coupons to save even more. When you have a family, you do whatever you can to save money. As for the infant car seat/stroller combo, I bought mine on sale at Kmart for $90 and I'm about to pass it on to a friend who's due next month. My son's big boy car seat was $75, but it converts to a booster later. I'd rather pay extra for something that I will be able to use for a very long time.
Good luck!

My wife and I have three children (two of which are in diapers) we could afford the MOST EXPENSIVE brands but for what? We buy LUVS as well and sometime we will buy the Wal Mart brand. I mean if you think about it whats the purpose of a diaper in the first place? A cloth designed too absorb human waste. I dint care what cartoon is on the diaper as long as it works.
I think its up to the parent as to what they buy but I do not have a clue why people seem to wanna buy diapers that are so expensive, it makes no sense.

consider this - will your child know the difference? it is your child you are buying for after all not other welfare mums.
WE are comfortably off and i still use second hand clothes on my son. Far cheaper and also he doesn't get snooty about wearing stuff like that which is recycling after all isn't it?
A bad parent is one that either fails to meet their child's needs entirely or only does it when it fits in with THEIR own requirements - buying a lower grade nappy/diaper is not ignoring his needs.
In fact when teaching a child the use of a potty using a lower grade nappy can be very useful because they get to learn how uncomfortable they can be and so want to use a potty sooner than if they always have the most absorbent higher grade nappies. (that is for children over the age of 2 tho)

no - smart momma! raising kids costs money - save where you can. The only diapers my daughter had that weren't Luvs were once we got as gifts at the shower. And I love hand me downs! Sometimes when you use WIC or another program, you have to buy a certain brand - so maybe that is why you see it at times. But, if you are happy with Luvs - don't feel bad!

No you are not a bad mom, you are also not having the government pay for your diapers, so you are making a practical choice. It's a whole lot easier to spend more money than you have to when it's not your money. I have used both high end brands and Luvs. Personally, I prefer the Luvs.

Ahh, the corporate guilt we all fall victim to! Whether you are a bad parent or not (in your case, I'm guessing...NOT!) has nothing to do with the brand of diapers you buy, nor the level of technology options for a car seat! Saving money by buying a cheaper brand of diapers makes you a responsible parent, because then you will have more money to: save for the future, or spoil yourself a smidge, or give a larger donation to charity.
One less moment spent stressing over "stuff" (and the subsequent bills....) is one more moment to hug your kid!!
If saving money makes you a bad mom, we need lots and lots and lots more bad moms!!
