My brother caught 2 minnows and a few baby catfish and put them in our tank with our guppies. I think that 2 minnows arnt enough because they are schooling fish, and arnt happy alone. They think im stupid because im worrieing about a minnow, but i think im right. I plan on letting the minnows go as soon as they turn their backs, but i was just wondering if im right about the situation, or are they right about them

my brother caught like 15 baby catfish about an inch long, he put them and some minnows in a 15 gallon fishtank that has guppies and a male betta fish. He didnt quarentin ethem or anything like that, he just dumped them in. I took my betta fish out cause i dont want it to get a disease but i cant do anything about the guppies and other unknown fish in there.

So my question is, is it ok to have the catfish in there (because i dont think it is), the tank is 15 gallons with about 25 1 inch fish. My dad and brother think its fine, but i think the catfish and minnows need to be put back in the lake, because this isnt a lake fish tank, its a guppie tank

what do you think

Hey, I've had my gold fish a week or so now, but I've had fish for most of my life. this is my first goldfish and it seems to be building a bubble nest?! It might be gasping for air, if it is could this be because I have put some runner beans in it?

the other week i brought gravel that has been dug out from a river for my new fishtank which i am preparing for gold fish . i washed and washed it repeatedly to get the soil off. i even rinsed it with very hot water to avoid any bacteria or whatever.but the other day i found a few baby snails attached to the walls of the container.is it still ok to use the gravel with its potential to grow some snails?

Hi, we have both a goldfish and a plec in a mixed tank, the goldfish is fed flake food every day, however when we put the algae tablet in for the plec, the goldfish eats that too before the plec can even get to it. Does the plec need seperate food or can it survive on the algae in the tank, will eating the algae tablets harm the goldfish?

I ve been with the infected fish to the fish store so they could tell me what it is, and they seemed to think it was carp pox not White spot. so i had the water tested also which they said was fine and to treat the pond with medi Fin for 4 treatments over 4 weeks, which i have done. One of the fish seems to of had this for around a year, mainley on his tail fin and slightly on other fins (which are mainley white) but not the body. But also has hemoraging on the fins which has reduced since using the treatment but is still there (which is a comet fish) but some of the others now show slight signs of this and also one has some scales missing and a ulser i think?
I dont think i can put anymore of the medi fin treatment in. I heard putting non-iodised salt in may help to keep any infections at bay, but the dreaded blanket weed is now returning and i want to get that under control too. So can u tell me what it is and can i put all treatments in at the same time? Thanks

Hi just wondering can fighting fish change there sex after a few months? I had a couple of males that decided to loose their color and long tails and turn and start to look like a female. I'm unsure why they have done this. They are all separated of course and eat same as each other and so forth. I asked a Pet shop owner who had no idea. Was wondering if anyone else has had this happen? The Pet Shop person suggest I put the two fighters in together to actually see what would happen and if they have changed sex but I'm not willing to do this.

I have a fish tank with 2 albino cory catfish and 3 fancy guppies. From what I've seen, the fish don't pick on each other and seem to get along fine. However, one of my cory cat's fins look as though one of the other fish are eating them off! The "see through" part of the fins are almost gone (sorry, it's kinda hard to explain) just leaving the meaty part of the fish fin left. The fish is acting completely normal. He's being lazy (as he always has), but I just would like to know if there's anything that I can do for his fins? Could it be something in the water? I use bottled spring water (our tap is horrible and cloudy) and I only use tropical fish flakes for the guppies. The other cory cat is doing just fine, as are the guppies. Does anyone know what's happening to my poor fish? and if there is anything I can do to help it?
