I want to get an automatic feeder because I'm leaving town for a week. I have a 55 gallon tank with puffers and groupers and i feed frozen krill as well as silver sides. Are there automatic feeders where i can feed them that? Because i mostly only find the ones that feed pellets

I see the problem you'd have feeding krill - especially if they're whole! I've ever only seen one feeder that might work for you and it's on the expensive side - but you put whatever you want to go into the tank in bins that rotate much like a slide carousel for a slide projector. Since they're solid, they can even be used for liquid foods and dosing medications. I checked the website where I saw it once, and evidently it's still being made. Only thing is, I'd imagine the frozen food wouldn't be very good after a few days. If you can't have someone else come in and feed them once or twice while you're gone (it wouldn't have to be every day), you might be better off not trying to feed while your away - just feed right before you go and as soon as you get back. Most fish won't be harmed by not eating for a week (a mouth brooding bangaii cardinal male goes 20+ days when he has a brood), and it's better than having an automatic system add too much food if you use the kinds that feeds pellets.

Just get an holiday feeder block it is more cheaper and you don't need to worry about the batteries failing on the automatic feeder or powercuts. And no i don't think that there is one that feeds frozen krill and silver sides. Or slowly introduce them to some pellets so they won't mind pellets.

hope this helps
