I saw this fish it was flat and diamond shaped at petsmart. It eas $14.99 (I think) but their was no care sheet so I could not get a name. It kind of reminds me of the silver dollar fish and I want to get him and put him with my bala shark. Thanks for the help. On a side note, will bala sharks (not really a shark at all but still semi-agressive) eat feeder fish? I doubt it but anyone know for certain.

I have a three year old zebra danio. I noticed he was bloated two weeks ago, I thought he was pregnant, but someone told me danios don't get pregnant. His belly is so huge. He has cuts by his belly. He has trouble swimming. All the pet stores are closed, I tried to give him peas, but he can't eat them. I don't have another tank to put him in. Please help me. I don't want him to suffer.

What I am looking for is a link to any e-commerce stores that sell reliable digital testing kits for water chemistry. Quick run down of problem. 75 gallon tank crashed about 3 weeks ago due to overload in bioload. I evacuated out the ones I could, and the others I couldn't move died, including all my Arowana, parrot's, cat's and plecos. Have restarted the cycle since with danio zebras, guppies, mollies, a couple cories, an asian cat, and a pleco and all doing fine. My testtube kit is reading DARK green almost into midnight blue which I'd read that as about a 7.0 in ammonia, BUT my live meter reader is showing it only to be a light green, .25 slightly stressed. I cannot tell which one is reliable, and I figure the testtube misreads as I tried to level out the ammonia three weeks ago with ammo lock and stress zyme to by time to evauate the rest. Have done three 40% water changes, and I still read over 5.0 on the test tubes. Get digital or any other ideas?

All of the blue gills (sunnies) in one of my ponds are dead and floating. Cleaned them up and saw no obvious causes of death. The bass, frogs, other creatures are all fine and seem quite content. Just the bluegills died. The Pond is located in the northern Catskills of New York is about 100 feet long, 30 feet wide 6 or 7 feet deep in the middle. the fish look to have been dead for a week or so. the only thing I have done out of the usual was soaked some bare root apple trees in the pond overnight before planting a few weeks ago, but cant see how that would have an impact. Any ideas???

I was feeding my flowerhorn 6-8 pcs. of these XO Super RedSyn pellets which enhances color and the hump of the head. I feed him 3 times a day with the same amount(6-8 pcs. per feeding). My cousin whose quite an expert told me that my fish had a color burn and its color (dark red almost black) will never return normal. Is he right? Or can still do anything about it. Lately I've been feeding him with XO Humpyhead which enhances the hump and body. I've not feed him XO Super RedSyn since.

I just bought a test kit, even so I owned fish for a year ( even though I just found out about the nitrogen cycle..). Anyways, I found that I have no ammonia problems, but that I have a high pH, and High water hardness (380-420). And my fish are taking an abnormally large amount of craps. I'm not sure what my fish species are, but I also found that there are now baby minnows in the tank, so some of the fish must of mated =). Any advice on how to lower the water hardness and possibly any side comments on what to do with the baby minnows? Oh, and none of the fish are big enough to eat them (hopefully). I keep fresh water fish.

I have a new 90 gallon this is my 4th tank. I want to get a wet dry filter for this 90 gallon but do not want to spend $250-$300 for one. I was thinking of getting a filstar XP4 canister filter instead. Do you think they are good for saltwater tanks? If anyone has anyother filter suggestions please let me know as well. This is a reef tank will have corals and inverts.

my man is interested in a salt water fish tank...I try to support him on these ventures although he does not always follow through with them...anyway, I was wondering if there was a way he could practice having a salt water tank? He has already had fresh water fish...could I maybe give him a five gallon tank with one fish and work him up to the size or number he wants? Neither of us has ever had a salt water tank...where is a good place to research care and what not? I already know that these tanks are EXTREMELY expensive and hard to maintain; however if it doesn't work out for him I am willing to step in and care for the tank, as long as I can research it first and know what I'm getting myself into...anyway, any one who has owned or knows anything about these tanks please feel free to post any knowledge that you have on the subject-it would be greatly appreciated.
