I was looking in my tank lasy night with a flash light and I saw a couple of things that looked like worms. Once the light was on them they slowly went into holes in the rock. I didn't see any tubes. Also there are small bugs that look like flees. There kind of fast and they run around the rocks. I dont know what copipods or amphipods look like. I dont know what either of these things are and I have a uv sterizer if that means anything.

i'm having trouble deciding what kind of algae eater to get. I have a 10 gallon tank with a clown pleco, a spotted cory, 2 small platies, 1 adult guppy, 2 baby guppies, and 1 betta. I don't really have that much room for another fish so I was thinking a chinese algae eater or an oto cat.

I'm asking for personal experiences from people that have had this situtation, please.

thanks everyone!

i have something attached to the inside of my tank that is white and kind of fans out at the end. looks like a bunch of small pieces of lint ( no better description ) no bigger than 1/8 inch. upon further inspection, my plants are covered with it also. it is a 185 gal. tank with a jack dempsey and i had an albino oscar until 1 day ago when it passed away. now trying to figure out what killed the oscar. tank is about 5 months old. these fish were in a 55 gal. together with a green terror that i left in the 55.the dempsey seems to be fine. the oscar stayed at the surface for a couple days and acted as if he was struggling to breathe. water tests are fine, tested three times now with new test kit.i cycled water for 30 days before putting fish in and used some water out of the 55. i didnt have a light for the 185 but it sits under the ceiling light so i left it on during the day. now that i have a tank light, i can see growth of some sort inside tank, but you really have to look for it.

ok, I cannot get my snowflake eel to eat the baby freeze dried shrimp i bought her. she also is not eating regular shrimp or squid. should I try a live fish to stimulate the feeding behavior? Also, is 29 gallons too small an area for her until she gets bigger, she is maybe 10 inches long right now.

I have a new 90 gallon tank, this is my fourth one and its going to be a saltwater reef tank. I know wet dry filters are the best to go with but I do not want to spend all that money $250-$350. I was thinking of a canister filter like the filstar XP4 which runs about $160. Please let me know anyother suggestions you might have for filtration.

I seem to have a lot of soda ash laying around, but am not sure if it is safe to put in my cichlid tank. Does anybody know the answer to that? IF SO, how high will the ph raise? I want it around 8.2, and I don't know if soda ash will do that or not.

I have several fan tail goldfish and three of them were having problems floating up to the surface tails first. I changed the water and two of them became well, but one of them is now floating upside down and having a hard time straightening out. What is causing this? If it's an illness is there a medicine for it? What can I do?

Black Moor goldfish in a 10 gll tank. I am having to do water changes once a week because the water keeps turning green and cloudy on me. It last about 3-4 days clear and then overnight it seem, it turns green and cloudy with an foul smell. I have tried changing filter, cleaning gravel, cleaning tank, starting from scratch, and just simple doing water changes. This tank is fairly new, since easter this yr. It was doing pretty well until 2 wks ago there was a lot of slime, water turned reall y green and my fish began to bleed underneath their mouth and got ick. I since then treated them and was able to save one, the female. Unfortunately, the male died. I want to do all that I can to avoid the same thing happening to the one who survived. I need help because I am so lost. I have used the tank buddies for algea but it's not working...any suggestions???

I was at the pet store today and I saw these semi-circle bowls that people hang on their wall and put fish like a betta in...there was no place for a heater or a filter or anything really...but then I looked on e-bay and found one that allowed space in the back for such...I would like to get a couple of these for around my room however before I did I was wondering what do other people think of these hanging fish bowls for the wall? Does anyone have an opinion on them or any experience with them...even if I decide not to get one for a fish I read that you can also use them for a planter which interests me very much...I have been looking into getting a few house plants as well...
