Fish - May 2007

I have Penn-plax Cascade 300 power filter that i got from ebay now i cant find cartridge for it I did try penn-plex website but it looks like this filter was made in 2003.Can someone help me, this the best filter i'v ever had (and dont have money to get a new one i have 55 gal

hey ok guys thanks for your last answers, now, so how much does a 30 gallon tank with all the filter n everything cost? do you need to still clean it out but not as often of does the filter take care of all of all that ? thanks for your help everyone :)

Why do you have to remove jewlery to swim with dolphins.. what if you can't take it out.. because I just got my belly button pierced && I swim with dolphins in a month.. && I'm not supposed to remove it before 3 months.. SOMEBODY HELP!!!!!!!

about 4 months ago i bort sum baby gold fish, there in a fish bowl atm, quite big n deep but round. im sure theyre gettin on well as theyre not showin signs of illness etc but i jus wonder if they need a bigger tank, theyre about 4 inches long and they live in fresh water, they get fully cleaned out every other day and appear happy, jus wonder wen i shud move them and wat to do with them cos i heard they grow quite big. shud i get a propa filter n everything or they ok jus livin in fresh water bein cleaned out??

6-10 swordtails (definate)
Betta(yes, bettas can me community fish)
Rummy nose tetras
Cories


Oh, and dont worry about fry, its single gender swordtails

I do have a bigger tank put it has neon teta's , african dwf frogs, catfish, male guppy, female batta, it also has 2 Phantom tetra and to i belive there called sperae tetra or something like that lol 2 of them. Would the kissing gourami get along with these fish. Other wise i am going to have to hope it does ok in the tank i have it in.. I do know better now not to listen to pet people. Do more reading before buying.

I noticed a couple of days ago that my betta is bloated. its because i overfed without knowing. but now, im placing it on a diet. Its on a 48hr no food and then starting back with just 2-3 pellets a day. <--if this is wrong, tell me a correct diet.


But my question is...is there anything I can feed it that will help the fish pass its food? It hasnt done that in a few days.

I have a 75 gallon aquarium stocked with saltwater fish. I have two 40 watt flouresant bulbs. The tank is in a corner of the house near a window but the air in that area is 78 degrees. My tank is at 85 degrees. Back at my apartment my tank was at 80 degrees while my house was at 74 degrees. Can anyone suggest a method to cool off my tank that doesnt involve a chiller.

I was told recently by someone not to vaccum my gravel as it will disturb the bacteria in my tank while I'm trying to cycle it. Instead I was told to just change half the water to keep my ammonia and nitrite numbers down. My Corys are doing a good job at keeping the bottom clean but this doesn't do anything for the fish waste at the bottom. I'm kind of looking for a second opinion here.

Hi, I have 4 wcmm & 2 goldfish in a 30 litre tank. The problem is I think my goldfish may have Ick as it seems to have white spots on it's body (as though scales are missing) & swims on a strange angle at times. I got some medication for them & have started treating today but last night I noticed one of my Minnows (I think she may be female - swollen underside- but then again she could be ready for spawning) has started to gasp for air & stays at the top of the tank a lot, she's also darker than my other Minnows.... any ideas? I'd be really grateful. I should also say I have a filter on my tank & tend to do a 20% water change every week.

Help! I lost 2 goldfish at new year & don't want to lose anymore fish!!!!!

Hello,
My father has a property with 4 smaller lakes on it. One of the lakes is supplied with water from a nearby spring. All the lakes are very deep. Is it possible to stock them with trout and if so, woudl the trout breed?

Ok say if I bought some top quality Betta's from a good breeder and decided to breed them myself. If I took say a red halfmoon male and bred it with a blue halfmoon female, would it still be considered top quality or would it be like a pet store fish? Should I breed a red halfmoon male with a red halfmoon female or can I mix the colors up?

thirty litre tank, just changer from an under gravel filter to a stingray underwater filter, but water has gone gren and cloudy and won't clear. filter works fine and no fish are dead.
