so the 20 gallon as of now still has the Blood Fin. Neon and Gold barb...
i went to the pet store today.. and reserved/asked for a clown Loach..

if they get one in then i can get one if not... ill have to ditch that pet store. x]

someone who answered my questions yesterday suggested a Kuhli Loach... at first i was freaked out about this thinking "who'd want such a worm like fish?!" then i realized its not so bad..

Q1: so I'm thinking if they DO get a Clown Loach will it be ok with a hopefully soon to come Kuhli loach?

Q2: lets say the Clown Loach doesn't come in, then will a Kuhli Loach be Okay in the tank?

Q3: since they're both scaleless... will increasing the water temperature help decrease the chance of diseases??

my girlfriend recently bought new fish and despite being told to quarantine them she put them straight in the tank and now we have fish lice. I am at my wits end as this is the third time she has done this and previously the fish died a horrible slow death over a period of months despite trying numerous treatments.

I have 5 big Koi's in my pond which I have had for many years, and recently bought 6 new koi's to add to the pond. Am I suppose to seperate them first before I put them in with my old ones? Because it seems each time I add a new fish to the pond a few of my fishes would die. How can I avoid this problem? Are you not supposed to add new koi's in the pond straight after buying? Help needed please!

I have a 20 gal mature tank and set up a new 55 gallon this past weekend. My 20 gal has a small 5-10 gal aqua tech filter and a penguin 125. I took half the gravel from the 20 gal and placed it in the new tank and carbon cartridge from the aqua tech filter, i placed into the new filter for the new tank. The new one is acrylic and has no room for me to add the small filter directly to the tank. Now I have new fish in the 20 gallon and am wondering how long should I wait to put the carbon cartridge back into the proper filter on my established tank. Oh and the 55 gallon has 6 zebra danios and 9 cory cats in it, so there is an ammonia source. In my 20 gal the new fish started scratching for a day so I added meds. and treated for 3 days, during this time I had the carbon cartridge from the penguin in the new tanks filter also. I have since put it back in the 20 gallon.

He used to remain on the bottom like catfish usually do, but for a few weeks he's been constantly at the top swimming vertically with his mouth up at the surface. All the other fish are thriving and the tank is not at all overcrowded.

I have 6 goldfish in a large tank, they all appear to be healthy but the second smallest one appears to be getting a problem. It had a large fan-shaped tail but recently it has started to become very ragged.

Are the other fish eating it's tail? Bullying it perhaps? Any ideas?

All the fish appear to be healthy, apart from this one fish and his sorry-looking tail!

I have a 55 gallon tank, that is regularly maintained, but I need to clean the white crust that has built up on the top of the hood, how do i do this and what is causing this? Also, algae is begining to grow underneath the top on the glass that protects the light bulb. What is causing this and how do I clean it? Can I do anything in the future to prevent this, it is such an eye soar, because my aquarium is clean and the water is perfect!
