My tank is infected with fish lice and I have tried sterazine as directed and it seems to have had no effect so If I try a different treatment I want to make sure it is not just the stuff with a different name

Sterazine is one brand name or synonym of the generic drug Sulfadiazine.

It is an Antiprotozoal and Anti-Infective drug.

Fish lice are tough little buggers and it may be too weak to handle them. Technically, Fish lice are copepods (or crustaceans) and a bit more difficult to kill than protozoa so I really wouldn't expect Sterazine to handle them very well.

If you will email me at magicman116@yahoo.com I can suggest a possible solution for your problem.

The HUMAN drug Sterazine appears to be an antibacterial (namely sulfonamide), but I can find very little on Sterazine as a fish treatment.

Alternative fish lice treatment can be either a 10 to 30 minute bath in 10 mg per liter of potassium permanganate, or treating the whole tank with 2 mg per liter, but this method is messy and dyes the water.
