Sounds great! Wonderful stocking plan. =D I would add the gouramis next, then the panda cories as they will do much better in an established, "mature" aquarium. =) Be sure to well-plant your tank, as the gouramis will be much more bold if they know they have some hiding places to retreat to. Caves and rocks to hide under are also a good idea, and they're a nice way to accentuate your aquascape and offer some relief to the green of the plants.

The betta will be fine, and you don't have to worry about him and the gouramis fighting. They'll establish a pecking order and will leave each other alone. In a previous tank, I had a betta in with three male dwarf gouramis and 5 female dwarf gouramis and no one ever bothered anyone. I now have 3 pearl gouramis, one male and two females, in with a male betta and they get along just fine. =)

I don't think you should keep 3 honey gouramis in a 20 gallon tank. If they are all male, they will be aggressive toward each other and if a male and female pair up to spawn, they will be VERY aggressive to every other fish in the tank.

I think a single gourami would look beautiful with a larger school of tetras. How about

1 honey gourami
10-12 tetras
5-7 panda cories

If you buy a gourami, I would also recommend you avoid a betta. They are both anabantoids (have that labrynth organ that lets them breathe at the surface) and are well known for not getting along with each other. Some people can make it work, but it's a gamble.

Oh, and DON'T mix male and female bettas. That's just asking for fights. The only ones you can put together are females with females, and even then you have to keep an eye on them as some of them are just too aggressive to tolerate each other.

Those are some great fish to start out with. They will all have plenty of space in your aquarium.

The betta will be fine. Contrary to popular belief, bettas aren't aggresive towards other fish, they are only aggresive to other male bettas. He may chase the neons around for a while, but with a group of seven he will soon relize there are too much. It would make him very comfortable if you have a few rock sculptures for him to hide in. You could even getr 2 or 3 female bettas to make him happy. If you do, it is normal for the male to be slightly aggresive towards the females, but with a large tank like yours, it will be fine.

Hope this helps!

This sound cool. I wouldn't try putting all the fish at once because ammonia might/will spike and can kill the fish. I wouldn't put a betta with gourami because they are close cousin. They might fight.

They might be right though.

yeah

the betta will be fine, it's better to have it in a 20 gallon than those tiny tanks they sell for bettas.. i had mine in with my oscar in a 50 gallon until the oscar got like huge and i forgot to feed him for a day....

Sounds like a very nice selection of fish that should do very well together.
