I have been raising guppies off and on for about 30 years. Currently I help my kids breed them to sell to a local shop that likes our colors. They breed Red Cobras and Moscow Blues and raise out about 150-200 a month.

The guppy (Poecilia reticulata), also known as the millionsfish, is one of the most popular freshwater aquarium fish species in the world. It is a small member of the Poecilidae family (females 4-6 centimetres long, males 2½–3½ centimetres long) and like all other members of the family, is live-bearing.Guppies are native to Trinidad and parts of South America, specifically Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Brazil, Guyana, Netherlands Antilles, Trinidad and Tobago, the US Virgin Islands, and Venezuela.
However, guppies have been introduced to many different countries on all continents, except Antarctica. Sometimes this has occurred accidentally, but most often as a means of mosquito control, the hope being that the guppies would eat the mosquito larvae slowing down the spread of malaria. In many cases, these guppies have had a negative impact on native fish faunas. The gestation period of a guppy is 22-30 days. The average gestation period is 28 days. After the female guppy is inseminated, a dark area near the anus, known as the gravid spot, will enlarge and darken. Guppies prefer water temperatures of about 28 °C (82 °F) for reproduction. After giving birth, the female is ready for conception within a few hours. Guppies are known to exhibit superfetation, that is, the maintenance of batches of embyros at various states of development. The female guppy has drops of between 2-200 fry, normally about 30 to 6

I sorta raise guppies. I have guppies and they have babies and I keep some of them to repopulate my tanks with pretty colors. I get ones that have pretty much a black and yellow tail with a dark black spot on both sides of their bodies and orange and yellow and blue patches on both sides of their bodies. I just added a male that is white that fades into a yellow with an orange tail and am hoping to mate him with my white female with and orange tail. And I also have two males that are a greyish body color with irredescent green scales and bright yellow tails, I would say that I have gotten upwards to 35 babies at one time but I can't keep them all so I select a few to raise up.
