If you want something to eat algae, do not get a pleco like people are saying, these may eat algae, but will only cause more problems.

If you do't want a snail to overpopulate, then don't worry, get any snail you want. Some snails can easily overpopulate a tank, but only if you let them. Don't overfeed your fish, and clean your tank weekly, and the snails will still reproduce never overpopulate.

If you want a snail that won't reproduce at all, get a single mystery snail. Females might be carrying eggs when you get them, but they only lay their eggs above the water line, in a big clutch of eggs that can easily be removed. After that she will never be able to reproduce again unless she is with a male.

Mystery snails are pretty nice. There is also a Chinese Algae Eater, which only grows to 2-3 inches.

we had a small problem with algae. we use the tank brush wipe down the wall and change the filter cartridge and added a algae eater (fish) also try not to keep in in direct sunlight or the light on all the time as this tend to produce more algae good luck.

A single apple snail - these are like guppies - you need to have both genders for them to reproduce, but females can store sperm and continue to lay fertile eggs for a few months after being with males. The eggs can be laid above or below the water, depending on the species, but you can remove them if you don't want more snails. After a few months, eggs will still be laid, but they won't be fertile.

Hello..I'd say check with a Fish Pet Store, I know you don't want them kind of snails that come in the live plants for aquariums & no matter what you use, you still have to do some scrubbing..Take Care :)

I'd suggest get some Otocinclus Catfish instead of snails.

I find they do a better job.
