ok, I cannot get my snowflake eel to eat the baby freeze dried shrimp i bought her. she also is not eating regular shrimp or squid. should I try a live fish to stimulate the feeding behavior? Also, is 29 gallons too small an area for her until she gets bigger, she is maybe 10 inches long right now.

Most eels do not eat on a daily basis. Feedings 1 or 2 times a week should be sufficient, and then only feed them as much as they will consume. From time to time it is not uncommon for most eels to go into a "hybernation" period, often hiding and not eating for several weeks or so.

Sometimes a specimen may not accept tank fed fares in the beginning, but over time it adapts fairly well to tank life and will accept fresh or frozen meaty crustacean preparations suitable for carnivores.

A carnivore, this eel's diet consists mainly of shrimps and crabs, as well as brine shrimp, but it may eat smaller fish if the opportunity arises.

29 gallons is right now ok for your fish too.

I have raised snowflakes and your 30 gallon is fine for now. I had one of mine in the 20 and he was almost 2 foot he was fine healthy and happy, even grew his hump there. I've since moved him to the 250. they do not grow that quickly. Also, yes you can use live fish, guppies and mollies are the best only because they can tolorate the salt tank I've fed mine goldfish, minnows. Also, pellet foods are another choice. Depending on what the supplier fed them. A good idea was to find out what they were actually feeding the eel. Also sometimes when it comes to frozen thawed squid, you may want to wave it in front of their face. mine were hand fed so I just wiggled it at the top of the tank. you can use aquarium thongs etc.

They have a great sense of smell so if you are using squid, let it thaw on the counter for the better part of the day in a little tank water. Let it get ripe. That may help.

And yes most eels will eat every day when they can.

I had a snowflake eel in my saltwater fish tank, & they are cool. What I recommend feeding it is goldfish or live feeder fish. Mine only ate frozen shrimp when I didnt have live fish & it was really hungry. But the majority of the time it only ate live fish. No 29 gallons seems ok for now. I had a 55 gal. & a 75 gallon fish tank, but it was full of other fish & corals et et., so yours seems alright for her size right now.

I love snowflake eels, they are awesome! I would try live fish to get her to eat, they can be a bit picky at first. Even though it may look familiar, here's some additional info about these great fish.
