Vinegar and salt mix into a paste and allow to sit for a few moments and a little elbo grease will remove the lime. Some spots may require a razor blade to get it all off. Also a chemical called lime away fond at walmart will also work. Don't worry once you are done cleaning and rinse it well, use your dechlor and wipe
the fixtures clean. Be sure to use a clean soft rag. This will not hurt your fish.

Vinegar can help lossen the lime and dissolve it. Also, you can use a damp cloth and use salt as a scrubbing compound to help remove the lime. Odds are also very good that some of what you are seeing on the glass is actually etching caused by the hard water and that you cannot remove but it will be barely noticable when the tank is filled.
