What you are seeing is called the egg spot and means the female is ready to breed. The flipping and hugging is actual spawning and is when the male helps the female expel the eggs and also when he fertilizes the eggs. If they have already done this, there should be eggs in the bubble nest the male built and it would be time to remove the female before the male kills her.

I'm not sure where the previous answerer got her betta info, but it's incorrect. Both blue bettas and black bettas (they are NOT the same thing) breed in in this way, color has nothing to do with it. It is true however the most all female black bettas are sterile and lay bad eggs.

MinuteMan is correct here as usual. When females are ready to breed you can see a white egg spot. The male wraps his body around hers to squeeze out the eggs. When this happens he fertilizes the eggs. He will swim down and scoop up the eggs and blow them up into the bubble nest. Do you have food to feed the fry? The eggs hatch in about 2-3 days. The fry are very tiny and won't be able to eat flake food unless finely crushed up. They need food such as micro worms. Which takes a while to culture. Here is a web site that will explain the spawning and then how to care for the fry after they hatch.

Yes she is pregnant. She'll start to lay her eggs soon. Buy a tank divider and split the tank in half. Put the male and the female in the empty side. Once she lays her eggs, take her out, not the male. Leave the male in there so he an fertilize the eggs. After he does this, take him out and watch the babies hatch.

yes it means shes pregnant I'm guessing you have bets yes she is full of eggs and he is trying to squeeze them out but be careful with breeding beta the blue females(called black) CANNOT lay their eggs they will get full and then die so if you have a black female I'm sorry but yes the white dot means she is pregnant.
