hi. i have 6 guppies. 2 males + 4 females. i breed my guppies and enjoy doing so. adult guppies eat thier babies(fry) so it would be a good idea to get a breeding trap for the fry to live in.
because platies and guppies are both livebearers, there is not much differance between them, but i would go with the guppies as they are slightley easyer to breed and to handle fry after.

Keeping only 1 batch of fish from either species would severely overcrowd your tank. Plus the frog will be apt to grab up some eggs and fry. Unless you know that your local fish store is willing to give you store credit for them, it's not really necessary. If you WANT to breed to keep or give to friends, you should probably add a breeder only tank to keep and feed the fry in (nutritional requirements are different than the adults)
I think right now you have a cute tank and wouldn't mess with it. It's about perfect in stocking as far as giving your fish swimming room and keeping the water at perfect levels in between water changes.

I wouldn't suggest breeding either of them unless you have something to do with the babies once they are born. They will overcrowd your tank very quickly if you can't get them out into another tank to grow up. Most of course would get eaten by the adults in the tank, but a few fro each batch would probably make it and in no time you have too many and fish start dying.
Plan carefully to make space for the babies until they grow up enough to sell them, or plan on having tons of tanks filled with guppies and platys.

in case you mean jointly, they could. i does not anticipate it, nevertheless. in the event that they do, the fry will probable be deformed and could not survive. in case you mean guppy with guppy and platy with platy, then confident in case you have a male and a woman, livebearers will breed in only about any condition.

I would recommend breeding guppies because they are easier to breed them platies.
Get a pregnant guppy and place her in a breeder. After the fry hatch, take her out. The fry will be on the bottom section of the breeder. After a couple days, they will be able to swim. Feed them brine shrimp and special fry food.
