3 out of my 4 goldfish are gradually turning black. At the moment it's the edges of their fins that are turning black and one has black blotches on it. What is it and what shall I do?

It might be a natural color change, but it might be the result of too much ammonia in the tank (ammonia poisoning), or an infection. If you haven't changed their water in regular intervals, or the tank is less than 2 months old, it may have been from ammonia. see "Black patches" in this link: http://www.fish-disease.net/diseases.htm

Goldfish produce quite a lot of ammonia, and will get fairly large, so you need to keep them in a lot of water (as adults, about 10 gallons per fish), and do frequent partial water changes - about 25-35% each week.

Apparently, if you keep goldfish in a dark cupboard, they will turn black. So it could be that the weather has been dismal, cloudy etc. Are they spending more than their usual time in a darkened environment. Put them in the sunshine and their lovely shimmering gold should return!

It is very normal for goldfish to change color.

My Moor went from black to orange.

This has happened to mine and they are still alive and thriving. Don't know what causes it though.
