hey everyone, i posted a question about dwarf puffers before but i accidendently deleted it before because i wanted to delete the added details. well my new question is that before i get my dwarf puffer, i wanted to know if i have to chagne the water in the tank i have already. I have about 3 neon tetras, and they all seem very sick and seem like they are baout to die soon. I used to have more but they all died, and im not sure why but it might be because iu havent filtered the water long enoiugh (only for 48 hours before i put enw fish in) so i was wondering, do i need to change all 100% of the water then cycle it for a week or so before i put the piuffer in, or is the water just fine? thanks

He's a normal 'feeder' variety, and he is around 2".
I had my fish in a tank for an extended period of time (w/out cleaning), around a week and a few days. This tank is temporary, and should be changed WAY more often. But, for numerous reasons, I couldn't change the water, which became cloudy and murky. I'm thinking it might be natural toxins produced by their waste, or an injury from the cloudy water. I put them in fresh water today. Any ways to help him? (I just hope it isn't a clot of blood or something...)

We had a red beta fish, that lived in one of those Beta tanks, all by himself for more than 4 years. I've actually had pet store employees not believe me. What is the average life for them? Was my fish a freak of nature? lol

I spawned a crowntail male with a vailtale female a couple of weeks ago.. and it was very successful for my first spawn. I now have about around 50 fry in my 5 gallon tank. Now, I know i have to start seperating the males when they get around 3 months of age... (which is in about 2 months from now) But my question is where can i find the containers/jars where betta breeders keep their juvenile bettas?

Another Question:
The fry are still very small and white of course, but can anyone tell how they will look like (what color) they will be. I posted a picture of the mom and dad betta at the bottom.
[these fish were just spawned to be owned as pets not to be shown at any IBC show] Thanks for your help..

I set up a 55 gallon saltwater tank about two weeks ago. I had a clownfish and blue damselfish until today when I added another clown and a royal gramma. It seems to be some sort of communication with eachother, but whenever the new fish come into contact with the old ones, they shake vigorously... What is this?!?

I have a tank full of about 7 Malawi cichlids about 2 1/2- 3 1/2 inches long. They are darting around the tank, swimming up and down alongside the tank, they have little air bubbles on their bodies, they are having spasms and they are scraping themselves against things in the tank. Does this sound like anything you guys may know? I really dont want to lose my fish and it seems to be getting worse. They are still eating and are very active. They are always displaying lines across their bodies which I was told they have when they are stressed. My water is fine I test it weekly. I don't know what else to say..Please Help!!!!!!

One of my Koi has been doing the following for at least a week: Floating on his side, floating upside down, going in circles with his nose at the surface, spinning a little and sinking, then occassionally circling to the top and gulping air, then sinking again. The little bit of swimming he does, he does on his side. The water quality has never been bad and there are only 6 fish in the pond. After asking a local shop, I put 20 pounds of salt in the water. The next day I put him in a 5 gallon bucket of the pond water with medication for disease. The next day I put him back in the pond and treated the whole pond with the medication. I treated it twice last week. I did a 3/4 water change last night. I thought he would be dead since it has been so long. I will toss in a few peas but I'm not even sure he can eat. Any other ideas of what this might be and what I can do to help him? I'd go the extra mile if needed. Thank you for your time.

I have been noticing my plecos poo be very long and stringy. I consulted with MM and I trust in his answer and been using it. The color and amount is not unusal and I just reduced my feeding amount slightly. My 75 gallon tank crashed 10 days ago because of my bio load. lesson learned the hard way. I have restarted my cycle with some guppies I keep stocked for the datnoid who's in the small tank, mollies that are made for breeding, one small pleco and four small cories. Not anywhere near max on bio load, but today I have noticed the mollies have very long stringy poo comming out. one of them is like a light brownish color, the other is a very dark black. Now since this is still recycling the ammonia is very high like around 4 to 5 and I am about to water change it. MM I have three tanks btw lol. the ones I been asking you about are all in the 20 and 15 tank. Is this anything to be worried about in the Mollies? I am trying to use the mollies and gups as renewable food for dat

Im setting things up like now and i was wondering if an underground filter would be neccessary. Does it make a difference in your tank or not really? Also, about how much does a kit for measuring Ammonia nitrites, and nitrates cost?

Hi all !
I'm relatively new in the fishkeeping hobby and till now I use liquid tests which I buy one by one (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate).
I would like to buy a test kit for freshwater. The kit should include at least the 5 common tests (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, hardness). I would prefer liquid tests (but if you have good experience with strips I am willing to reconsider). Sure I cannot afford to buy a "chem lab" but can spend till 40 Euros for the health of my fish. Hope thats enough... Any recommendations to help me out ?
Thx in advance.
