How large of an aquarium is safe in a second story apartment? I am in Arizona, and it is a 20 year old apartment, which means it is hard for me to tell if it is rundown from age, or sturdier than these new stucco things they're building. Is a 55 gallon safe? I also have a 28 gallon, so is it OK if they are in the same room, in different areas? I need to upgrade, but don't want to crash through to my neighbors lol. Thanks! Beth

Help! Ive posted about this before on another question page and no one could help me. About 6 months ago, a male molly of mine got an odd spot on his belly. It looked much like a fungus so i promptly treated the tank. Symptoms didn't improve. The spot continued to get larger over the next view days. It was located under the pectoral fin and to the right on his right side. The spot didn't get much larger, but the strange part wasit began to get deeper. It began to eat away through the scales, the skin, and later i could even see his bones. I had had him seperated by now so i knew that no fish was picking at a fight wound. I was about to euthanize him when no one could help me but when i got home from school, his organs had com out of the hole. It is believed that this disease took my Ghost Knife Fish about a month ago and now a male swordtail has it. I do not recall on the Ghost Knife Fish but i think it was always on the right side. Please someone help me! Ive tryed everything!! =(

It hasn't been used since about 1992. I'd love to set it up and get some fish in there. What should I do?

I have a 55- gallon saltwater tank with a few large pieces of live rock and a couple damsels. I noticed the other day on some of my live rock this very small thing (looks kinda like a feather duster) that kept popping in and out of a very small hole on the side of my live rock. What could it be? Is it bad? And how did it get there?

I got my first Betta fish 2 days ago. He doesn't swim very much, but rests at the top a lot. Iv'e tried to feed him every day since I got him, and he will suck the food in but spit it out immediatly and won't eat it again. Do I need new food or is there something wrong with him? Iv'e been feeding him HBH pellets. Any help or general betta advice would be much appreciated! I don't know what I'm doing!

My amonia levels were fine the other day. All of a sudden they peaked. I did a quarter water change and added CYCLE to lower the amonia levels. This morning the levels were higher and the water is so milky, what should I do?

I have a Whisper Power Filter (in a 10 gallon tank) that works fine. When the current cartridge gets old, can I get a bio-filter cartridge? Because I really want one with the bacteria because every website says that bacteria will work the best. If you need to know the fish list, it's a pleco (~ 3 in), 2 zebra danios, 1 small guppy, 1 ghost shrimp, and 1 red wag platy.

They are really green spotted puffers, not dwarf puffers. I only have the 2 full grown puffers (with neons, a molly, a catfish, etc) so the babies are obviously theirs. I know it is normally not all that common for them to breed successfully in an aquarium. It's a very nice surprise, I just can't believe it. The other babies weren't all that big, so the new babies are fine with them and I have baby brine shrimp. I just wondered how many babies am I looking at with this sweet little mama and daddy puffer couple? If it's 20 or so every 6 weeks, I got to get prepared for that, if anybody knows how often this is possible, (or how likely to happen) please let me know.
Thanks!!

I have heard that salt can be harmful to corys but what exactly does it do to them? My cory is in a 29 long with 5 guppies and I have added close to 4 tablespoons of salt to the water for electorlytes and disease prevention over a period of time.

I asked this question when I got my betta probably a year ago. On his fins, he still has these red "spots." I'll try to describe them the best I can. It is only on his fins, mainly tail fin. It doesn't look vein like at all, more like small red markings, about a normal pen line width, probably only a 1/2 inch long at some spots, mostly only 1/2 a cm long. He keeps his tail "twisted' usually only flares it out when he is eating. He had a dark blue body, with mainly green fins, an absolute gorgeous little guy, my Cyan. When I asked it last time 1/2 said it was hemorrhagic septicemia, other half said color change. Is their something wrong with my betta? I tried to find pictures of it, so far none look like it.
Please Help!!! :)

I have a Kole Tang. I was wondering if the spikes are ever "shed" He definitely looks like he had them out, but in the past...I was able to see the spike. Now, the "slit" is open, but I don't see his spike. Not concerned, just curious. I tried researching on-line and it is never mentioned.

and the fishes fins. I checked the ph it seemed a little low so i added some regulator and one of my fish (a ryukin) survived. The lionhead's (the one that died) fins were all torn. It did't seem like any bullying but i was just wondering what the disease was and if it should be a cause for concern
