I have a 1 Gal. fish take and i don't know what to put in it. My b/f and i want to get something. But i don't want to put a lot of money into this. So a fish? a turtle? something easy to take care of and preferably small.

Sorry to say that easy to care for and a 1 gallon bowl don't go together really. The best option available to you is a betta. It's not hard to care for in a 1 gallon bowl, but does take a commitment to change the water every 2-3 days. If you are willing to do that, a male betta will live happily and healthy in a 1 gallon bowl.

Considering you don't have much water to play with, I would consider getting a Betta fish or "Siamese Fighting Fish". They're able to survive in a smaller environment and do not need a filter or pump in the tank, as they have a labyrinth and breathe air as well as use their gills. They're about $4.00 or so and are inexpensive fish pets. You can give them a little house or something to hide in. And basically you just feed them a Betta food formula, which is usually pellets, and they only get about 4 or 5 a day. The male Betta is a pretty colored fish, they're usually blue or purple-ish in color and can have red or green on them as well. The female Betta is duller in color. One Betta per tank! They will fight with each other. And also become aggressive if they see another Betta in the tank next to them. Make sure your Betta's fins are well in-tact... not shredded looking or torn. Frequent water changes are needed at least once a week as there is no filter or way of the excriment from the fish to be filtered out.

No, you cannot put a turtle in there. There is no species of turtle that would stay small enough for a one gallon tank. Plus, turtles need full spectrum lighting and good filtration as they are very messy.

You could try a few of the freshwater shrimps that are becoming popular these days such as cherry shrimp. Maybe a small snail or two. Many people will recommend a Betta but Bettas really prefer heated tanks and are healthiest at tropical temperatures around 78 degrees F. You might try one Paradisefish. These stay fairly small, are air breathers like Bettas, are hardy and also like room temperature.

definitely not a turtle. the best thing for you to get is a male betta splendens otherwise called the siamese fighting fish. make sure you put only one because any more than 1 will fight to death. Thats afterall why they are called fighting fish.

another option is to have 2 or 3 fancy guppys - small, cute, no maintainence. by the way anything other the betta will need aereation so make sure u have an air stone connected to an air pump.

I guess your pssibilities with a 1 gallon FISH tank is not large.
If you ask me, the betta is a beauty and i surely would recommend that

Your best bet for a tank that small is something that can live in the a small space, is tolerant of cooler water and isn't picky about water quality. Best bet is a paradise fish. Bettas need some heat to really thrive. Please do not do goldfish, there is a misconception that the can handle small aquariums NOT TRUE. A gold fish needs a 20 gallon plus tank to do well.

You can pick up a paradise fish pretty inexpensively at most fish stores. They are very hardy, very attractive, and can do well in small tanks. They're also fine with cooler water.

Good luck.

A 1 gal. is way to small for a goldfish. You could get a Betta, 1-3 guppies, 1-3 tetras(probably neon's if you get 3 or more), or more smaller fish.

A betta would be easy with a frog or shrimp. You could put plants in it and it would probably be beautiful. I've heard 1 gallon is plenty for a betta, a "Fish Mansion" actually! But the water has to be really slow for a betta.

You can get a betta, and get some plants to put in with it, it will help keep the water clean and you won't have to change the water as often. Or you can get an Oscar, but you don't want to put anything else in with it because the Oscar will eat it, but I think they are really cool fish. Or maybe a Goldfish, they have some really cool looking Goldfish. Hope this helps.

not much. I would go with a betta. They are beautiful fish and labryinth breathers. That means they breath by coming to the surface for air. Therefore, they are hardy fish. Did I mention they are beautiful and fun to watch??? feed it betta pellets once a day and Hikari blood worms a couple days a week.

No. 5 zebra danios can only live in 20 gallons + Are you keeping 5 piranhas in a 1.5 gallon tank? If so, take them out and put them in a 200 gallon tank.
