I asked this question when I got my betta probably a year ago. On his fins, he still has these red "spots." I'll try to describe them the best I can. It is only on his fins, mainly tail fin. It doesn't look vein like at all, more like small red markings, about a normal pen line width, probably only a 1/2 inch long at some spots, mostly only 1/2 a cm long. He keeps his tail "twisted' usually only flares it out when he is eating. He had a dark blue body, with mainly green fins, an absolute gorgeous little guy, my Cyan. When I asked it last time 1/2 said it was hemorrhagic septicemia, other half said color change. Is their something wrong with my betta? I tried to find pictures of it, so far none look like it.
Please Help!!! :)

Well, if he has been that way for more than a week or two you can rule out septicemia, that would have killed him by now.

Red is a very dominate color in bettas and it's very common to see a bit of red in most pet shop varieties. Little dots or dashes of red in the fins is the first place it would be visible too. You might not be finding any pictures that look exactly like it, but that would be because there is no pattern that the red marks follow when the show up this way. Some have more, some less and in the rare case none at all.

I think all you are seeing is normal coloration and nothing at all wrong with you fish. It's normal and it's character!

If he has had it for a year it's harmless. We could bring up velvet, and various bacterial infections, but he would have been dead in weeks. Most likely it's just a little red coloration. Red is a normal color for bettas and I've seen colored spots on bettas before.

It could be normal coloring, or it could be marbling (a type of coloring).

If he's had it for this long with no problems or change, it has to be his normal coloring. A picture would help a lot, try taking a picture and posting the question again with a link to the picture or something :)
