Better to wait until the cycle is complete. The addition of a fish at this point could result in a large ammonia spike endangering that fish as well as any others in the tank. Ask the shop to hold it for you for a week.

It really depends on the hardiness of the catfish your going to put in the tank and exactly how well and how long the tank was cycled. In my opinion, I don't think you would have any problems. If you want to be safe, than I'd wait, but I don't think that's going to be a problem if it's the only fish in the tank. Just make sure the water parameters are appropriate for the fish. Also, make sure he/she has some hiding spots. If there are other fish, I'd recommend waiting for the cycle to complete itself.

You should wait until the tank is done cycling. To cycle with fish, try adding 1 or 2 Zebra Danios.

If its the only fish in the tank then there will not be any problems, but if not you will have problems with the tank. It may have a harder time cycling.
