HI,
My male betta is making bubble nests, so he is ready to breed.
It will sound stupid but, if I don't get him a female, will he get depressed? I feel kind of sad, that he is making bubble nests and all and there is no female for him. Will he get depressed?
I don't wanna take the risk of getting him a female cos he is very aggressive.
Thanks guys, you all are very nice!!

...should I clean it out? Maybe just a harmless fungus or algae?

I recently bought a tropical fish tank and the lady at the shop told me to only feed them every other day. But the fish food that I bought says to feed them 3 times a day, every day. I've had one fish die already, did he starve to death as I was only feeding every other day?

First, I'd like to thank those of you who tried assisting me in what I thought was tail rot with my male Betta, Sir Gilbert Finnegan.

I have now come to the conclusion that my beloved Betta has columnaris, or cotton mouth as it is more widely known.

I'd love it if any of you fellow fish lovers could help me determine which treatment option is most effective since I am a first time Betta mommy.

I have on hand the following medications: Tetracycline medicated fish eat, Jungle's Fungus Eliminator, Triple Sulfa capsules,Tetracycline capsuls and Splendid Betta's BettaFix.

Due to Gilly's recent loss in appetite (normally he'd eat 4 Hikari Betta Bio Gold pellets, for the last week he's only been eating 2) I think the Tetracycline medicated fish eat wouldn't be the right choice.

Could someone tell me which of my medications will give the best results? Or maybe recommend a better, and tried and trusted treatment?

I really want my Betta to pull through this so any help is appreciated. TIA!

The snail used to be very active and today I noticed that it was floating and had no movement. Should I change the water so soon? I also have a lion head, two goldfish, two calico fantails and two red platy fish together.

I have fishes and love birds( this is a common name used in the petshop). Now i am planning to construct a big cage( l x b x h=225 cm X 100 cm X 200 cm) for the birds. My earlier plan was to dedicate it to the birds and make green grass on the flooring. Now I am thinking about constructing a small pond which will use half of the ground area ( may be 125 cm X 100 cm and 100 cm depth) which will add the beauty. I am planning to have small live plants and beautiful fishes in that. I can fix the decoration tree, where the birds will sit most of the time, on the other half of the cage so that much waste meterials wont fall in the water. The pond may be useful for the birds also in summer season to take a cooling bathe.

But i am not very confident about the plan. Whether it will create problems to the birds in the future or whether the fishes will survive?

What are the points i need to attend in my design and construction? Which fish species are suitable?

My pair of blue rams have graced us with another batch of babies
and I was wondering of any other blue ram breeders out there would share their experiences and methods of maintaining their blue ram fry. I'm going to get a culture of microworms, do I need vinegar worms as well? Will any frozen or freeze-dried food work? This is in a ten gallon, do I need to put the parents in another tank? Thanks!

I have a 10 gallon tank with 3 fish...I have 15 snails. I get the water tested weekly and they say the water is fine, but the snails keep dying. The shell starts to get holes and turn white before they die. What wrong with my tank and how do I fix it?

Okay, about 6 months ago I bought a 10 gallon starter tank and three small fancytail goldfish. Please don't give me a lecture about how dirty goldfish are, they're really not, as long as I don't forget to clean and change my filter regularly. Any-hoo, My fish, obviously have grown and I do plan on moving up to a 20-30 gallon tank in the next 6 months or so. My question is: what type of bottom feeder or algae eater should I get for my tank? I've got a bit of algae growing on the sides of the tank and on the decorative things. I wasn't sure what type of fish would be best. I don't want something that will outgrow the goldfish, or a fish that will be too aggressive, my goldfish are big softies. Anyways, I know bottom feeders and algea eaters don't live completely on missed food and algae, I know they have their own diet needs, I just want an idea of a docile, slower growing bottom (and side) dwelling fish. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

I messed around and bought a Pleco fish in Walmart a few weeks back, I've just always admired this fish. When I started out, I had four female Bettas. The Pleco (stressed obviously) developed ICK. I attempted to remove him and treat him the second I noticed it but lo and behold, all the female Bettas had gotten it. I removed them all, bought the solutions, new gravel and everything and cleaned out the tank. I put them all back in the next day, the first female Betta died, an hour later, the second female Betta and finally the Pleco itself was floating upside down dead. Now I only have 2 females left ("Jade" and "Crimson" I call them) and Jade either hides or floats at the top very still while Crimson is more active. My 1st question is does anybody know why my fish died suddenly?

And finally, I read somewhere that I need more than two female Bettas for balance or one may become stressed. Is this true and should I get ready to purchase a couple more?
