I have a 10 gallon tank with 3 fish...I have 15 snails. I get the water tested weekly and they say the water is fine, but the snails keep dying. The shell starts to get holes and turn white before they die. What wrong with my tank and how do I fix it?

They need more calcium in their diet or in the water. here's a supplement that would help.

Possible not enough food and lack of calcium. Maybe salt or chemicals in the water. Live plants would be a help.

Sounds like your calcium levels, or water hardness, may be too low. Also, if the pH is low - below 7 - then that can also dissolve the shell. You may want to check these parameters.

Snails are an indicator of overfeeding. decrease lower back on feeding the fish. to help do away with them get some lettuce and submerge it in a bowl. The snails will circulate to the lettuce and you will take it out with a set of snail related and unload it. try this over the direction of countless days and you will see the snail inhabitants circulate down. they actually do not harm the tank different than being gruesome - unelss there are multiple them and that they could have a die off - then you definately might have a nitrite or ammnia spike. Dont hotel to chemical components to take them out - that's in no way sturdy interior the long-term.

as others have said you need more calcium, quick and cheap solution is to get liquid calcium made for coral in marine tanks. follow the directions for amount, but only about 1/3 as often as they suggest.

also, try feeding them more veggies :)

if you use something to kill algae or salt in your aquarium this will cause them to die. also you can only have so many in a tank as they produce a lot of ammonia and that will kill your fish.
