The water level is going down rapidly in my fish tank. I've had it for about two weeks. When should I add more water, and if so, should the water be dechlorinated b4 or after, putting it in the tank. Can I put distilled water in it? And if I put tap, is it okay to put another one of the dechlorination tablets without hurting the fish?

I always get algae in my tropical fish tank and its normal for me, I clean it out, it's all good. But lately there is a different kind of algae-type stuff growing inside the tank. Normally my algae is in colour of green with a washed-out tint of brown. Now it's completely green, does not stick to the wall as much as regular algae, comes off in a web-like fashion, looks like a very thick green spiderweb, spreads pretty fast it seems and I'm just wondering what is with this anoying stuff... it comes off easily but I'm wondering if it's a disease or virus...

I must admit I'm not the best caretaker for the few fish that I do have but in all my years of having fish I never seen this.

HELP!

Hi! I have a fifty five gallon tank and a five gallon tank, When one of my female guppies look like they are going to have her babies I put her in my 5 gallon tank, and a couple days later I have babys! It is so exciting! I love haveing guppies and watching them grow! Anyways... when the babies are born I keep them in there for about a month or so and then I put them in the big tank. But while the babies are in there growing I ussually have pregnant guppies in my big tank and I put them in a breeder net that I have wih openings at the bottom so that the babies will be safe but... when I put them in there usually the next day they look skinny and I am not sure if they ate them or what? So heres my question... Is a breeder box a good idea? Does it work? Or does it stress the guppies out to much so that they don't have babies at all? Thanks and I am soooo sorry for the long question! Thanks in advance

He was fine until yesterday. I woke up in the morning and when I was feeding the fish, I noticed he wasn't swimming normally, but is sort of at an angle, pointing upwards, and seems to be having buoyancy issues (he sinks a little, then swims a tiny bit to keep up). He's moving around and isn't belly up or anything. I feed the fish a little amount once a day, so no overfeeding. I just did a significant water change and cleaning, left some of the old water to keep the bacteria levels healthy. This doesn't seem to have helped him. Maybe a swim bladder infection/issue? Do fish ever come out of this kind of think and end up okay? Is there anything I can do?

He first lost one sack of one eye and it just deflated, and then the other side sealed over his other eye, then the still inflated eye sack got stuck in the filer pipe. I got him out, but it riped his whole eye out! I put him in another bowl with water from the tank, just a regular kitchen bowl and put some fish salt in it,now what should I do, will he die soon? should I put him back in the tank with the other fish or get a seperate fish bowl and keep him there?

I have a 48" by 12" by 18" tank and I have, 6 cardinal tetras, 6 rummy-nose tetras, 2 golden nugget plecos, 4 cory catfish, 1 betta, 4 dwarf gouramis, 2 platies, 6 peacock gobies, 2 gardners killifish, and 4 neon rainbowfish. Not out of those fish, over the past week I have had 1 dwarf gourami, 2 rosy-line sharks, and 1 sailfin molly die. The nitrates and ammonia are at 0, the temperature is at 78.2 degrees, and the pH is at 7. What is wrong? Whenever I know a fish is dying it is because they start not eating and eventually they stay in one place on the ground and whenever they try to swim, the back end of their body goes back down and they sit on the ground again. Please help!!!

I have three guppies and about 5 babbie guppies in a small 2.5 gallon tank. My daughter poured half a bottle of fish food into the tank when I wasnt looking. I pulled out the fulter to rinse it out since its gonna be working overtime and the whole tank looks pretty cloudy, Before the accident the tank was very well taken care of. I took as much of the food out as I could, but i dont have a little vaccume of the rocks. will they be fine if I dont vaccume the rest of the food out?

Im on my way soon to buy some fish but the closest pet store that is half decent is about an hour away from me. How long can the fish last in the plastic bags? Is there some other container that can be used other than a plastic bag that would give the fish enough air to make the trip?

IM just starting up my aquarium (30 gal) and I wanted to put goldfish like black morrs etc. I was thinking 4 fish. Is this too many or a safe amount? If it is a safe amount how many fish should (of this type) be in a tank this size?

I have a 10 gallon tank with java moss, java fern, an A. nana, some crypts, dwarf saggitaria, and some elodea. Right now the watts/gallon is about 2.8. I have eight danios and some amano shrimp. The substrate is Fluorite Red. So here are my questions. Do I need to add CO2? Can I do that with Seachem Excel or should I inject CO2? Do I need to be dosing any other nutrients such as Iron? Will the substrate provide enough iron for my plants? I also have soft water, will a CO2 injection system (its going to be a DIY) cause drastic pH fluctuations? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I read somewhere (I am getting mixed messages from everywhere) that marine fish like the Clown fish can be added to tropical fishes. I have a siamese fighter, several guppies, 2 gouramis (i love gourami fish they're so coy and so sweet) some tetras (5) and a bottom fish. I have lots of greenage, a heater set to 26-28 degrees f (75+).

Is there any other fish thats fascinating and beautiful I can add in my tank? Can anymone recommend a British website where I may get unusual looking fish that is compatible with my current fish.

Oh I also have a problem with using my gravel cleaner. Its a tuble suction thing. I do move it up and down vigorously in the water, (excuse spelling it is late!) but nothing seems to happen. Any tips on great gravel cleaning?

You're all wonderful I am sure all your comments will be valued thank you all xx

I have a 125-gallon tank that has been up and running for over a year now. I haven't had any problems with fish loss until recently. When I went to feed this morning, I noticed all 4 of my Cory's dead. Their body conditions appeared to be perfectly healthy and I routinely maintain the tank. All of my other fish (2 Angels, 6 Silver Dollars, 2 Red-finned barbs, 1 Pleco & 1 clown loach) still appear to be in perfect health. I am at a loss as to what happened. I don't know how to explain the death of 4 of the same species of fish at the same time. I have not added additional fish to the tank for about 4 months. I have not seen any signs of bullying. Any answers would be helpful, I am at a complete loss.
