I have a 5 gallon aquarium, with 2 zebra danios and a male betta fish. However recently my danio Perky (yeh..weird name!) has grown what looks like a tumor on its lip, the tumor seems white, and is bulging outwards; it does not stop the fish swimming, eating. breathing etc. Does ANYONE know what could be wrong with my darling fish??? I need to know NOW, because I'm going on holiday soon, and I want to sort it out now!!

I have a light and cover on my aquarium and I found my fish on the floor this morning. There's about a 1 inch space between the lid and the pump so I guess that's how he did it. I picked him up with a bundle up tissue and he didn't move so I went to the bathroom and dropped the tissue with my fish on top of the tissue into the toilet for a visit to the sea. As I flushed, the water began soaking into the tissue and as soon as the water reached my fish, he began to swim around. Oh my goodness, I thought. But it was too late, by that time the waves began to swirl and he was gone. Even if I had gotten him out with my bare hands I would have had to rinse him off under tap water, which would probably have shocked him to death. Anyway, that's my story. But why do fish jump out of the tank?

My tank has been cloudy the last couple of days. I have only had it for like two weeks. Also, two of my fish have died. Does that have anything to do with the cloudiness and what can I do to fix it.?

I noticed that there are white thread like creatures on the sides of my aquarium. My area was under a boil advisory when I did my water exchange a few days ago. I also added a store bought lilly bulb (as in a plant bulb...) two days ago.

Is there a way to get rid of them? I have no fish to worry about at this present time, just the plant bulb.

Could they have come from my water? I mean, I was under a boil advisory...

My betta did not do well in his short term home then I tested the water at pH 6.0 or under. The water I added to his aquarium later was at 7.2. What I mean is that I don't know why the tap water is fluctuating. It's possible my landlord has a water softener. Can I use bottled water?

Also, is it safe to add baking soda to my goldfish change water to increase the pH? I bought a pet store product that kills plants so I don't want to use that.

Have kept tropical fish for nearly 2 years now and mainly community fish have 2 tanks 180ltrs and 125ltrs . Would perhaps now like to have one for community and one with a few large different fish in . Spotted parrot fish and really like them , are they easy to keep and what other fish could I have with them ? Do you just get one or two ? Dont want to get anything that I cannot care for properly and cant find much info on any sites . Thanks .

Is it really caused by stress ? My loach does it every once in a while for no reason at all. i have had him for a month and he acts perfectly healthy and happy. he has his hiding spots, swims around, eats regularly, has no problems with his community tankmates....

Is greying out a warning sign of being unhealthy or is it just something they do ?

Thanks!

I have a tank and it is starting to get dirty and I want to get it cleaned out but I don’t know how to. I have the cleaner and all the tools. But I don’t know what to do with my two glow fish. I have never cleaned the tank yet. I plan to replace the gravel and clean the tank “toys” or whatever you want to call those things in the tank. But anyways can anyone tell me what to do with the fish?/! Will they be ok in a little bowl for like two hours or any other ideas?

I bought 10 new fish (5 sordtails and 5 guppies) from the pet store 4 days ago. They looked perfect in the store. I know my tank was healthy and ready for them. However, within 24 hours they started to get a few of the very small white specks on their tails and a little on the bodies here and there. I have been treating the tank for 3 nights now and so far they are all still alive and it looks like it may be clearing up a bit , only the red sordtails still have it on them. Should I continue to treat the whole tank till it clears up or try and seperate them? I have been doing partial watr changes every 24 hours when I add a new treatment as it said on the treatment box. I have never had much luck with treating them even this long without some dying.

I have bought 2 different plecos for my FW tank and they both died within a couple of days. All of my other fish are fine. I think it may be because of the shale rocks I purchased from a rock quarry. I boiled them for an hour like I was told to, and it hasn't affected my other fish, but I think it may be because the plecos feed of of the shale and maybe get the toxins. Is this a good assumption? Also, I have a few shrimp that are finae also, and they occasionaly feed off of the rocks

I was told the wood would help balance out the tank, so is this an actual fact?
Secondly, how do I treat or prepare the driftwood before I put it in the tank? (Driftwood would be purchased at petstore.)

i have a 20 gallon tank

-1 black molly
-1 clown loach
- 4 neon tetra
-2 serpae tetra
-1 angelfish

the 2 serpae tetras and the neons are very quick getting to and devouring the food (flakes), the molly manages to get some food and i feed the loach a pellet.

but my angelfish, being fairly slow and not that agressive a swimmer, never gets any of the food during feeding time! its like he doesnt even try. i put more food in after everyone has eaten and i try to put it near where he is but he just doesnt go up to the top to get any ? he wont eat any of the loach pelets either.... my sperpaes would prob eat all day long if i kept putting food in there but i dont want to over feed my fish and its not like my angelfish is even coming close to any of the flakes to eat them !

what can i do ? is there a special food that i can get for him or a particular method (strategy) that will assure he gets the food ?

Thanks !
