I have a fish bowl that I keep guppies in and they do just fine. I keep the bowl on the coffee table in my living room. I cycle the water once a week.
My guppies have even bred in this environment. Guppies are fine in a fish bowl if you keep the water clean.

Guppies need airation, which is water hitting the water's surface, to create dissolved oxygen that they breath thru their gills. Bowls are very inhumane to fish, how would you like to live in a round room your whole life and only be able to turn around?
Goldfish need at least 50 gallons to themselves since they are so messy and disgusting, so the myth that you can keep them in a bowl is untrue. They die within months because of neglect.
If you get a gallon sized bowl, or more than that, you could get a guppy and a small filter for it to make sure it filters the water. I would rather suggest getting a 2-3 gal bowl and a pretty male betta, using the filter like with the guppy.

A guppie does NOT need a heater and yes can be kept in a bowl, if you tend to the water conditions. Although guppies are fresh, salt and brackish water fish, they can be cold water, warm water and pond fish, they are very versitile.
A guppie can be kept in a bowl as long as routine water changes are made, every other day. This is not the most suitable home, but they can.

I see purely 3 people who have are available in right here and be attentive to precisely what they're speaking approximately, and nonetheless some get thumbs down, and maximum in all probability from people who've on no account even owned a goldfish a million. Goldfish particularly (Any fish regularly) shouldn't in any respect be placed in a bowl 2. Fish want cycled water first of all to stay to tell the story whether you have a huge tank. you are able to not cycle a bowl 3. Goldfish advance to huge sizes, want heavy filtration and room to advance suitable from the very commence or you would be coping with a ineffective fish 20 gallon cycled, filtered tank for one fancy suitable from the beginning up isn't an exaggeration, it particularly is an elementary actuality in case you like them wholesome and residing better than a month. For commons, they're pond fish and suitable no longer even put in a tank until it particularly is a extensive set up the ingredient is, while maximum folk say "am i able to maintain a goldfish in a bowl purely for a short at the same time as?" they do no longer comprehend the fish won't make it until they choose for in the event that they choose to place it in a appropriate tank in my opinion I relatively have no longer something against bowls - i take advantage of them particularly frequently for floating candles and vegetation, yet they are no longer meant for fish base line - once you are going to place it in a bowl you are able to be quite upset while it gets ill and dies in some weeks. i might advise being a in charge fish keeper and leaving bowls for paintings projects and floating candles and do it the outstanding way from the very commence so which you would be able to rejoice with your goldfish for Years

No one is trying to give you a hard time about trying to save a guppy, it's just very difficult to do when you are not using the proper supplies. You can do it in a bowl, it's just very very difficult and the least little error will cause a serious problem.

you cant keep either in a bowl.. goldfish are so dirty they need at least 10-20 gallons per fish. and guppies need heat and filteration. you cant do both in a fish bowl. id get at least a 5 gallon tank with filter and heater. the only fish you can keep in a bowl is a betta or 2-3 white cloud mountain minnows.
hope this helped

you can't keep guppies in a bowl. the waste and ammonia will build up and poison them. Plus without an air pump, they won't get the oxygen they need. they'll die within days. plus they need to be in at least a 5 to 10 gallon tank with a constant temp of at least 77 to 78 degrees.

Because guppys are tropical fish and you can't buy a heater small enough to put in a gold fish bowl. They need a steady, regulated temp. of 78 degrees.

Guppies, like all fish, need good water condtions which are almost impossible to get in an unfiltered bowl. The ammonia begins to build as soon as you put them in and continues to build until you do a 100% water change (must be done ever day) to remove it. Ammonia is very toxic and will eventually kill them. All fish, regardless of size, need to be in a TANK with a FILTER.

guppies need air in their water. An air pump. Gold fish can go to the surface of the water to get air if they need to.
