I have a vase with a peace lily and my betta. I maintain it by cleaning the bowl and feeding my fish 2 times a day. He (the betta) is now over 2 years old but my plant is beginning to die. Is there a better plant for this set up? non-toxic?

QUESTION 1: Will my flower horn fry kill each other?

Recently I've gotten 12 FH Fry from my cousin. They each are about 2 months old since hatching. Some are bigger, some smaller. I had them for 3 days now. They seem to be biting each other, chasing each other, I thought they were playing around, but it seems like they are "bullying" each other. I thought it was because they were hungry so I put food in, they fight over the food. Some might miss the food and hit another fry instead. Some might bump into each other trying to get the same food.

QUESTION 2: What kind of accessories should I put in the tank to make the fry feel at home?

Right now I have a little thingy magig and it blows bubbles up while spinning an orange wheel. I have a big ornament in there that's laid against the wheel and the fish love to rest in there. I also have a bright background. What else should I get to make them feel at home? Some plants? sand? pebbles?

Thanks for reading this, hope I get good answers!

I want to buy a small octopus for my salt water tank at home. I know how they are hard to take care of and escape artists and all that. Does anyone know any websites where I can buy a small size octopus? All of sites I have found have a $15 charge for the order being under $75, plus all of these extra charges that dont even exist. The octopus that I found was $53, but the order total came up to being over $150. If anyone has any good sites, THANKS!!!

I have 7 tiger barbs, 3 denison barbs, 1 red-tail shark, and a spotted pleco in a 55 gal (4ft X 1ft). Occasionally, a couple tiger barbs swim in place (in a plant) vertically with their noses pointed staight down - and they sort of seem to be shivering like they're cold. Is this normal behavior for tiger barbs? Also, my denison barbs seem to have started some sort of game - most of the fish in the tank will skip or brush the back of their heads off the filter tube that hangs down into the tank or off the gravel or ornaments. They look like they are trying to scratch their heads or something. I checked for ick, but they seem to be ok. Is this merely a game they're playing, or could something be wrong with them? Any knowledge on the topic will be greatly appreciated...

I know I have asked questions similar to this before, but I am desperate! I really want to get a honey gourami for my tank, but I am already overcrowding and my parents will not let me get rid of the fish, get another tank, or donate them to our school. I have
- 2 harlequin rasboras
- 2 sunset dwarf platy
- 3 fancy guppies, 2 female 1 male
- 2 neon tetras
- 2 algae eaters
- 3 glowlight tetras

I want to get a 20 gallon tank, but its too expensive and my parents won't let me get it. I already feel like I am a bad owner... :-( I don't know what to do! Please help! Your help would be much appreciated! Thank you! :-)

Okay so I bought myself a bigger tank, I got a 35x35x25cm and my fish are happy, for a test, i took a tetra 5-1 test strip and added it to a long tall glass full of natural mineral water and i was astonished - the ph levels were soft, all levels were perfect - it just made me wonder - has it been known to add mineral water instead of tap water to a tank? What do you think Tropical fish experts?
Thanks

I currently have 3 tanks, one tank for my two tiger oscars, one tank for my albino oscar, and one tank for my flower horn fish, and we are purchasing a salt water tank from a friend, my husband said we need to go down to 2 tanks only. So I have to get rid of my oscar fish and my flower horn. I am soo bummed! My oscar fish is the coolest fish ever. Is it totally lame for me to be attached to my fish? Oscar fish are one of the smartest fish in the world. Someone is coming by to take him tomorrow. Is it silly that I am bummed out that I have to give him up?

His tank is a 4 gallon filtered globe. He's alone. His ammonia level has been very high. Could this be due to stress from not being in the right type of tank? Should he have a different shape of tank? Or is this just normal territorial behavior?

I have a salt water fish tank and catch fish small fish in my canal for it. I have caught several of these brown/black fish. They are no bigger then the size of a pencil eraser and are very round. They look like a seed floating in the water. I caught them all near sea weed. You wouldnt even know it was a fish if you didnt look very close to it. It is a hard fish, and usually floats around near the surface. Anyone have any idea what type of fish this is? Ive been looking all day on the internet but cant find anything. Thanks for the help!!!

I did a partial water change today and discovered several very small snails. I have read a little about them and I know they are common and when you see them in the gravel or on the glass you need to treat your tank. My question is how the hell did they get in the tank in the first place? Also could this explain the decline of several of my plants?

I have them in a 10 galon tank my theirselves and the bottom of my tank is covered in breeding grass with thick plants in each corner. I'm pretty sure they haven't had any fry at all because I check on them many times a day to look and surely I would have seen at least one baby if they were having them, not to mention their black spots are just getting bigger instead of smaller. My other sordtails, mollies and guppies have had babies many times in my 55 galon tank and I just catch them out with a net and put them in the breeding net till they get big enough. Many times I catch them swimming along my bigger fish who seem to pay them no mind and don't even chase them. Anytime I get a more agressive fish in there that chase the smaller ones, I take them out. These sordtails are close to 4 inches. I read somewhere it was possible they have hundreds of babies, if this is the case do they just hold them longer? If they had fry wouldn't they have got smaller, at least the black spots?

A wasp stung my Beta fish (spot) and he's been acting lethargic and he's become discolored aroung his head and upper dorsal area. I can see the sting mark, and I don't know if the stinger is still in there. We just found a dead wasp in the bowl, and took it out. He didn't start acting strange until yesterday, so we thought he was fine. What can I do?

Okay, I understand that all fish have different temperments, but I've noticed that the 2 fish that I bought from the petstore that were in VERY nasty water are alot less lively then my 2 healthy ones. I have had these fish for about a week and a half and I'm fairly certain that they are healthy again. Do you think that it could be a result of being kept in the nasty water or did I just get the oddballs of the bunch?

And all it does is sit with its nose in the corner. I have it in a 10 gallon tank with a few male guppies and a very small pleco. This is not my first or only tank, but I've never had a Cory. Is this typical behavior. I've heard they do better when there are others, could this be the problem or is it acting completely normal?
