Hi I am setting up a fishroom and I was wondering if there is something I could use so I do not need to add dechlorinator to my water or let it sit, I want to be able to just turn the faucet on and have chrloine and chloramine free water. Is this possible?

My sister has three Gold fish as big as your fist. One of them is a Black Moore. They are all sick and trying to swim and sometimes staying upside down. Their in a 30 gallon Tank and her husband has changed half the waiter to bring up the PH level. They have also put epson salt in it and cleaned both filters. They started being sick almost over night and have continued to be sick for the past two days after they did all the above. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else they should do on trying to help save their Gold Fish. They have had them for the past 5 to 7 years. Have not done anything different or feed them anything different or new.
Thank you!!!

Hi,

I've had 4 Mollies for several months now. 2 Males, and 2 Females. One of the females has, over the last couple of months, seemingly got much fatter. I assumed she was pregnant, but as yet she hasn't delivered any fry! I've now put her in a breeding hatch now, but I don't want to keep her in there unnecessarily. I've taken a picture, and a video and was wondering if anyone could tell me whether she is just "plump" or pregnant - and if she is pregnant how much longer should I expect to have to wait, as I said before she has been this size for nearly 2 months now and I don’t want to keep her in there for any longer than she needs to be!

All advice appreciated.

properly, i added one of those fish plants as well. I filled the tank and also added the tap water friendly drops in. yesterday they were fine. but today most of the day the water seems to have clouded a bit and they are now spending most of their time at the top of the tank, looking like they trying to gulp air. there are also small tiny bubbles all around the tank. whats happening? why would the tank cloud up and why are they at the top all the time?

i would like to start a salt water tank. I talked to a few pet shops and one said i need 2lbs per gallon but when i talked to a few other ones they however much you want. i said how would 5-10lbs for a 30 gallon tank be both said that would be great i went back to the first pet shop then they dropped it to 1.5lbs per gallon. and also i talked to a pet shop they told me they had this great chemical called bio spira which coditions the water so all you have to do is put salt in then ur fish can go in. i went back to the first pet shop they said i cant do that, because i would be rushing the cycle and that my tank would probably crash. what i need to no is do i reallly need live rock and if so how much and should i use that chemical so that i can put the fish right in?

I am going to college for the first time in fall, and I will be living in a dorm. The only pets they allow are fish in a small bowl or aquarium, I have never had luck with fishes as pets? Is it because I have purchased them from retail stores rather than specialty store? What breed of fish do you recommend and do you have any tips regarding the care of a fish?
thanks!

Yep, I have a 5-1 testra kit to test the levels of everything in the tank. I have other products please do not think I have gone into this with my eyes completely shut. I know about ph levels and the requirement of the fish - the thing is, i have only dwaf, or very small fish - like tetras and they are absolutely tiny. I ask if not listed on the tanks in shop - whether they'll grow any bigger./ I have books, but - I was just worried about the oversizing. None of my fish have died or seem unhappy - I was just wondergin how many to a tank.
Thanks.

I have an 80 gallon cichlid tank and really like the look of a sand substrate. Has anyone had success with sand? Do you have any recommendations?

I'm relatively new to tropical fish keeping although my family have fish tanks. I keep freshwater fish - a lush mixture of colourful very small guppies and a male simese fighting fish, some tetras (neon) and much more, but all of the small, guppy and molly, tetras. I have perhaps all together 19-22 small fishes. The biggest is the darf Gourami, which is only 7cm long. I have several bottom fish feeders. 2 live plants, a small rock and one slate - all look very well. 3 way high filter with air pump and you name it i have it.

My tank is a hexogan 6 side tank, 5.7 US gallon. I work out the sq area to be just below 1500cm sq I believe.
I dont think of getting more fish - unless i removed some and taking them back to the shop where they're happy to take fish.

My fish are incredibly healthy, happy and look very well!
the water is clean - and everything is happy and compatible.
But, i am worried of oversizing , can anyone tell me if a small tank is too small? Thank you :)

If i was to buy a regular fish tank from the pet store, does it matter whether I put fresh water or salt water in it? I want to have a salt water fish tank. Are they special tanks, or will a regular tank from the pet store work for that?

Thanks!!
