I have a smaller tank, its 10 gallons. We have two, very happy and spoiled, goldfish. I swear we spend tons on them. The tanks was like $50 dollars, then we clean it out completely every 3 months. We have a whole bunch of decorations in it as well as black rocks. And every week they get an alge solution put into their tank, then a cloudy and smell reducer and then a soultion of stuff to make the water safer for them. As well as getting the filter changed pretty often actually and I swear we are always putting new lightbulbs in the tank. Oh and then frozen peas, the one golfish has an air bladder problem. So I have no idea how much it is, by no means is it expensive, but it isn't cheap either.

i've got thousands of dollars invested in my 3 reef tanks. that includes equipment (skimmers, pc & mh lighting, phosphate reactors, heaters, the tanks themselves), live rock, livestock (fish, coral, clams, shrimp, snails, crabs) and ro/di water. plus the ridiculous electric bill every month. thankfully it's worth all that money.

I have 4 tropical tanks, and don't like to think of it.
Hundreds, if not thousands, especially with electricity for lights, filters, heaters, AAAAH, I think I'm nuts.
