I just got a female guppy from the store she looks pregnant how can i tell? And she has a crack on her belly is that bad?

Is it a crack or a dark line? A dark line is probably the translucent skin and the dark area inside is the eggs. Female guppies always seem to be pregnant so if she was in a tank with any boys she is probably going to have babies soon. Watch out though, they eat their young! Have plenty of plants for the newborns to hide in or you won't have nearly as many fish as you could have!

She probably is pregnant, most female guppies are when you buy them. You can tellfor sure by looking at her belly for a dark spot called the gravid spot right at the end of her belly. It gets bigger and bigger as she gets closer to having the babies.
A crack on her belly could be a very bad thing. I would return her asap.

well if you are absouletely sure that it is a female then you can never tell. the crack on her belly would only mean two things that i know... one that there was a fight and two that the fish is pregnant/really fat.
there is no other way to find out if the fish is pregnant unless to wait for three months tops.

mine had a crack because she was so big.and she probly is pregant 8]
