He was fine until yesterday. I woke up in the morning and when I was feeding the fish, I noticed he wasn't swimming normally, but is sort of at an angle, pointing upwards, and seems to be having buoyancy issues (he sinks a little, then swims a tiny bit to keep up). He's moving around and isn't belly up or anything. I feed the fish a little amount once a day, so no overfeeding. I just did a significant water change and cleaning, left some of the old water to keep the bacteria levels healthy. This doesn't seem to have helped him. Maybe a swim bladder infection/issue? Do fish ever come out of this kind of think and end up okay? Is there anything I can do?

It sounds more like constipation to me. If it were a swim bladder infection it probably would be moving faster than this and he would be much worse after even a single day. Over feeding isn't the only cause of constipation, it can be from a low fiber dry diet as well. Try adding some fiber as previously suggested and he should improve quickly. Feed a little fiber to all of the fish once or twice a week to help prevent constipation problems.

What kind of tetra is it? I had a problem with neon tetra disease in my tank a while back. It affected all of my tetra species, but what you are describing sounds similar. My tetras would dart back & forth, up & down in the tank and I also started noticing discoloration of their bright vibrant colors. Also, their bodies would look like they had a bend in them. I did some reading up on it, so as not to infect other fish in my tank and ultimately (if this is what it is), death will occur. If the infected fish are not immediately removed from the tank and any of the tank mates eat the dead fish, they can also get the disease.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like it might be swim bladder. Is he still acting normal? If he acts normal but has a problem swimming it's more than likely swim bladder or constipation. Try giving him some roughage. He will like it. It will be a treat for him. My fish love frozen peas and romaine lettuce. Just crush it up so he can eat it.
