My tank is 30 gallons and there are about 25-30 fry. I just needed something to help out the algee and not eat the fry. I got two tiny chinese algee eaters and they seem to be fine ...just wanted to make sure they wouldn't eat anyone

If it just for a baby tank to keep it clean, i suggest snails. A baby tank will be too small for any algae eaters

Algae eaters tend to be a very large fish. Most people just call any bottom feeding fish an algae eater. If that is what you are thinking, then cory cats are fairly small and I don't think they would bother the danios.

I don't know of any fish that eat algae that stay small. Pleco's grow to around 24 inches. So unless you have a very large tank I wouldn't get one of those.

Just do some research on the fish you decide to go with and find out how large they will be at adulthood. Make sure your tank is large enough to house them.

Good Luck

An oto or small species of pleco would be your best bet. Chinese algae eaters get a bit nasty and will attack fish. Given the choice though I would really recommend you leave the algae for the baby fish to graze on. It's quite good for them

Danios and Minos lays eggs - The bitter section is that oldsters itself eats all the eggs it un considered. and there's a technique stated as "spawning", meaning a woman and male with eggs jointly pair up one yet another. The male forcefully pushes the female to a corner and makes the female to launch all the eggs(mind-blowing element right this is the eggs at the instant are not fertile yet, which potential it can not turn to infant fishes), and on the released eggs, male fish wil spray the sperms, merely after this act happens, the sperms fuses with the eggs and able to hatch in 2 to 4 days. If woman fish on my own is been separated, it does not lay eggs. Even it lays, it can not fertilize. So greater effective way is to hit upon a male waiting to spawn from a similar tank. Separate those 2 fishes in a separate tank, enable them to "get into temper" and spawn. as quickly as spawning is over eliminate the two the father and mom returned to their tanks. enable the eggs be interior the hot tank, dont use clear out, merely use air stone to oxygenate the eggs. And help ur fries to advance up, as quickly because it particularly is of a solid length launch it into the tank. If the eggs or babies of small length left interior a similar tank with person, then it is going to vanish in an afternoon as adults will certainly consume the eggs or fries. observe: Fish eggs gets fertilize merely after been laid, egg laying fishes does not have intercourse like stay bearers(guppy, platy, molly which makes use of a gonopodium to deposit sperm into the female). The eggs are fertilized merely after laid.

While I cannot say for certain I never had a problem with algae eaters eating my baby fish in my tank. I always had plecos in my tank and never had a problem with them eating any fish, baby or not.
