I had a red ryukin in my tank and the black moore is chasing and biting my goldfish. I wanna know if this is OK and it is going to get better and they get along soon.

The Black Moore is an omnivourus goldfish species. It is very docile by nature and can grow to be up to 7 inches long, and 2 inches deep!

As the Black Moore is a very playful schooling fish, it must be kept with at-least 2 more goldfish to be comfortable. Moores are my personal favorite goldfish.

Fish, like any animal, can be very territorial at times, and if your BM continues chasing the RR, just remove it from the tank for 2-3 days, keep it in a seperate tank, and then replace it back to the old tank with the RR. As a newcomer, his attitude will change.

You must just have a mean one. You'd be suprised at this, but goldfish can be very aggressive. A black moore is just a form of fancy goldfish. Goldfish only really do well with other goldfish. You may need to separate him out and give him a time out of sorts until he gets used to his new environment. He may calm down when he gets less spooked.

It is goldfish spawning time, maybe you have lots of females. Does the moor have breeding tubricles? (pimples on the cheeks, gill covers and leading edge of the pectoral fins) If you see those than there's your answer, he's attempting to make the females release their eggs.
I have however witnessed before aggressive GF that were not spawning. The aggressor was the one who eventually got ill. I think that maybe a fish not feeling well sometimes will "take it out" on the other fish.
Sometimes GF can also get aggressive when the tank is over crowded.
That maybe the way the fish handles the stress of the new home, he may feel more confined than he was before.

if the tank is not too big i would deffinately get rid of the black moor. ive had two of them at different times and the first one i had killed 2 other fantails within a week. then i had one in a ten gallon with another gold fantail and he eventually picked on it so bad it starved to death and had marks all over it.

i really do enjoy the black moor though but i would keep them by himself or in a large tank with more room. i think they are territorial.
The next time i have an extra tank with nothing in it i will just get one black moor because they are such a cool fish.

watch it and you may and probably will have to remove him.

i once got a super big goldfish with two smaller goldfish not realizing how much bigger it really was. for about a week he chased the smaller ones, but then he stopped, and was just a beautiful addition to the tank.
