.. except at Pets Paradise that is... so freakin' expensive there! (a 10kg bag costs AU$130). On or offline stores are ok. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

stupid little girls that live down the street and possibly other strangers (the little girls i have seen open the gate and run off) and they keep passing buy and teasing my dogs (1 a rotty the other a lab) and opening the gate so as to get my dogs to run after them (?).i am not sure of the real depth of stupidity of these girls but i need to do something to protect myself incase. i live in a place where i need these animal to ward off thieves and other troubles and i let them run around my yard as they wouldnt really ward off trouble if they were tied up....its kinda like if you had a gun guard in a safe and all of a sudden you need the gun and well there you are tryin to get the gun out and then take the guard off...really makes no sence imo. WHAT should I do???

I have 6 puppies not a clue who the father/fathers are. Abused rescue mother that was pregnant when I got her. At 4 weeks today one is twice the size as the others. Even has furrier hair. The faces all look the same. The mom looked part Havenese. She had 3 different types of fur. Never seen anything like it in my life. The mother passed away 2 nights ago in my arms. I am thinking about doing DNA testing on one of the puppies. Do puppies at 4 weeks all look the same? I'm clueless here.

i have a friend, who has 5 dogs, 2 are old and cant do much so are no problem, 1 is 18 months, 1 is 6 months and the other is 4-5 years. the two "puppies" are no problem, but the 4-5 year old is very vocal, when happy or playing he cant help but bark, he doesnt know he is doing it. it is ONLY when playing, and when my friend leaves the house, and the other neighbours say he only barks for about 5 minutes in this situation. anyway i was at my friends house last night with my 2 dogs, and obviously, id just come in with the others so her dog was barking to say hello to us all. not constant barking, maybe 2-3 barks a minute, this was around 6 pm at night, so it was still light, and it was raining so its not like this lady was sat out in the garden having to listen to it all. within about 10-15 minutes, she was on the phone having a right go at my friend, telling her "she has to come home right now, (we were home) and see to her dogs who have been barking constantly for over a hour"

Don't get me wrong, i love my dog, but i can't keep her anymore. Shes an AKC labrador and I got her 3 years ago, but i moved away to college a year ago. My parents were taking care of her when i was away but now that both my parents are starting new jobs, in which they both work bizarre hours, my dog is being neglected and my parents want me to get rid of her. Does anyone in the SF bay area want to adopt her? Is there any alternatives other than the SPCA or Humane society? I don't want her stuck in a kennel and maybe put to sleep if no one adopts her. What should i do because i don't want to give her up. I cant bring her with me either because of the place i'm living in. I'm torn. anyone have any suggestions? anything will help. I'll do anything to find her a good home.

I am just wondering to everyone who is so against breeding, did all of you get your dogs from shelters? If so than that is great, but if not than you have no room to say that others shouldn't breed. I am not trying to get you angry so please don't freak out with a two page rant about how awful breeding is, I have read your answers and I know how you all feel. I just want everyone to understand that the reason not everyone wants to get a shelter or a rescue dog is because many of them have behavioral problems and don't make very good pets. I'm not saying all of them do, I'm sure some of you have wonderful dogs that you rescued, but I have two friends that both rescued dogs that have some major problems around children and other dogs, if you don't have the dog from a young age then you can't train it as well, and there are certain things in dogs you will never be able to change. I just want you guys to know the other side of story. Please don't be rude if you answer this.

I have a miniature schnauzer who's about 5 years old and a house dog. Today he was in the car [We have an SUV really...An expedition it sits up pretty high] He was on the seat and my little annoying brother called him to come here and he jumped off the seat onto the ground landing on his mouth and hitting his head. His teeth is very loose barely dangling and he hasn't been the same. He just lays there....He would get excited when we'd take him outside but he doesn't even want to do that. It happened about 3.5 hours ago....What should I do? Oh please help!? He's not eating at all either and he loves food! My mom's friend told her to give him a pill like Motrin or Advil for the pain he may have...Should we do it? Is that safe? If not what else can we do...? I feel so helpless and he looks like he's in so much pain...

My son and I adopted a beautiful unique mix from a Program out in Vegas called "Adopt a Rescue Pet." She looks to have some chow, but her face looks like a Golden retreiver.. Anyway, we fell in love, and brought her home. She has had all over her vaccinations, and has been dewormed, spayed, and microchiped. She is 3 years old, and was abandoned along with her life long companion doggy, that was also adopted out yesterday. Once her "friend" was taken out of his kennel, I was told that she stayed in the corner, and looked depressed. She is now extremely nervous, looks just so sad. She hides as much as she cans, and didn't eat or drink anything after bringing her home yesterday. She did go out for a walk today, and finally drank something. But she doesn't seem to want anything to do with us. She doesn't run away from us, but she just looks completely bummed. Does anyone have any suggestions. I know shes been through a lot, I just want to do the best we can to help!! Thanks!

My husband and I both work in the day time, I let the puppy out in the morning, but we both work 12 hours shift, and can't exactly let our 3lb Shih Tsu out in the yard without supervision, since there's an owl near by. Do you think we still train him to housebroken or do you train him to do his business on the papper mat?

I volunteer at the shelter 2-3 days per week, and I've made it my goal to take some of the more hyper, exciteable dogs out to the play yard and let them have some "free-running" time. This helps them learn to socialize with humans, and it also helps them burn off the excess energy that gets built up living in such close quarters.

The problem is, when we get out to the yard, we have no toys for them to play with. I don't mean the expensive kind of dog toys. I mean, we don't even have tennis balls to throw for them. NOTHING. The shelter is so over-wrought, all the funding and donations go for the basics... food, water, medical care, staffing... there's no $$ for "extras" like toys.

I need some ideas for getting toys donated, or at a great discount, so the dogs can at least have something to fetch. Right now, all they have are rocks! I need names of charities to contact, even those philanthropists who give small sums to charities. Anything you can think of. Thanks!

I have adopted a dog from the shelter. Smart, beautiful dog. She is crate trained, and holds until morning, then will go outside. I let her out after every meal, every morning and after drinking water. I spend about 1/2 hour each time and usually don't come in until she urinates, and yet she pees on the rug. She doesn't bark, or "tell" us in any discernable way she has to go out. I have caught her three times, said no harshly, and let her out on the deck until I clean it up. I praise her so over the top when she goes outside that my husband makes fun of me. Any suggestions?

My faimily has a puppy that is about 5 months old. Since about 2 weeks ago he has started going poop on all of our couchs sometimes multiple times a day. It is very gross and our other dog doesn't do it. We let our dogs out all day and he goes bathroom outside too. Also lately he has tried peeing on the couch. Why is he doing this and how do we stop him?

So I took my puppy to the park for the first time and I was excited. Hes about 12weeks old. Since He was left along the side of the road, we have had since he was bout 5days old and now I love him more than anything. Hes happy and healthy and getting big!

well hes only bout 3-5lbs but hes big to me. since he was found we are unsure what he is....the vet told us she "thinks" pit bull, and plenty of other people say pit bull...but we are not for sure.

so while I was at the park people asked "aww what kind of dog is he?" and so my answer was "we think pit bull" and then they got a disgusted face and told their kids to leave! I was soo upset! The same thing happened at petsmart...people just judge him! hes 3lbs what is he going to do besides lick you to death....I was hurt....

anybody else go through this?

heres a pic of Diesel....

I bought a 6 week old Chihuahua. After a week he was very lethargic and threw up. I took him to the vet the very next day, and was diagnosed with Parvovirus. Does he have a good chance of survival? Right now he is in Treatment.

Well my sister, mom and me really wants a certant dog in a pet shop. We are considering to buy it but of course! Dogs are very expensive. My mom is considering to buy it if only dad chips in 200 dollars at the minimum. And my dad says no because of course 200 (0r) more is alot of money for something. (imagine how long you have to work to get all that money back) So how can I convince my dad to chip in at least 200 dollars?

(reading this part not required)
We already have one dog but I really want another one. Also because when me and my sister go to school and my parents go to work. Our dog is home alone and I thought that maybe having a friend for our dog is a good idea.
