My faimily has a puppy that is about 5 months old. Since about 2 weeks ago he has started going poop on all of our couchs sometimes multiple times a day. It is very gross and our other dog doesn't do it. We let our dogs out all day and he goes bathroom outside too. Also lately he has tried peeing on the couch. Why is he doing this and how do we stop him?

Okay i know some puppies do the same, but how do you solve the problem, and trading the dog in is not an option

get the chemical citronella, dogs hate the smell but humans don't mind it. put it in a spray bottle and spray the couch with it and your dog won't go anywhere near the couch.

I can't believe people are still saying to stick their nose in it. When you do that, the dog has no clue what you are doing, especially if its more than 3 seconds after the dog has gone to the bathroom.

You need to house train your dog. He needs to be completely supervised unless he is in his crate. By supervised, I mean you need to be watching him. Take him out every hour and reward him when he goes outside. If he starts to go inside, pick him up and carry him outside where he can finish up. If you scold him too harshly while he is going inside, he will learn that he shouldn't go in front of you and will sneak off and do it in another room.

Forbid the pup from being on the furniture. Crate him and only let him out when you are there to monitor. Praise him for going potty outside and do not let him up on the couch. Its just a mistake. Now he has marked his territory and he will continue to do his duty there because he believes its his poop territory. Trust me. He will wait till no one is looking and do it.

though it's not usually recommended, i still would advise you to put his nose and mouth on his pee.. this is how you make the dog understand that he shouldn't be peeing on that place or couch for that matter. it really works. my dogs no longer pee inside the house whenever i bring them inside. that's just what i did. i placed his mouth and nose on his pee.
as for the bathroom thing, scold him in a nice way that whenever he attempts to go po*p on the couch, bring him outside. that's what i did with my puppies. coz puppies need yet to be trained. now, they go outside and do their thing on the grass. that's just it., whenever he attempts to go on the couch, say "no" to him and bring his cute bu*t outside your house, or wherever you want him to go.
eventually, your dog will just learn how to do his thing through your training. these suggestions really work, believe me. good luck and i hope your dog will learn.

Well all young puppies do that and you have to try to train the dog and stop it from doing that.

Everytime he does it bring him over to it and make him smell it... point and say NO! Bad doggie, and flick his nose, thats what we do when my brat does naughty things. Then make him go outside and wait for him to pee. I agree with the person who said moniter him etc.

push his nose in it and swat his behind. then take him outside. after u feed him take him directly outside to use the bathroom and do not bring him in until he goes.
