There are several products on the market to help you deal with doggie breath including dog toothbrush and paste, dog treats that can help minimize tartar or freshen dog breath as well as doggie breath drops.
Go to your local pets supply store, and ask for products to help eliminate your dog's bad breath. You should also go to the vet and have them clean your dog's teeth.
Good luck. :)

Bad breath need not be a part of your life with a dog but this is a very common problem with little dogs as their teeth are often very crowded. If your dogs teeth are really bad he may need them scraped under anaesthetic and possibly even some extractions.
Periodontal disease and gingivitis are very common problems with commercial kibble and can fed dogs - in fact over 80% of dogs over the age of three have these problems. The answers about teeth cleaning are pretty well right but the easiest way to keep your dogs teeth clean is to feed it raw meat and edible bones. The meat flosses the teeth and massages the gums while the bones scrape off plaque and tartar. The six monthly dental visits will be a thing of the past.
Choose (real) raw meaty edible bones - the size of which depends on the size of your dog. A thigh or drumstick may be good for a chihuahua but a mastiff might need a whole chicken.
Steer clear of raw hides, greenies and other artificial bones as these can be a choking hazard - much more so than raw bones!

The best thing to do would have your vet check the teeth to make sure there is not bad tooth in there. With the smaller breeds they do have more problems with their teeth. Have your dog's teeth professionally cleaned by your vet once a year and then you can keep it up at home. Caring for your dog's teeth is very important for your dog. The plague can build up and go to the heart. As far as the bad breath if you do start brushing at home after the cleaning that will help. Also they do make doggy breath mints too...All the best;~)

The best thing to do is take the dog to the vet for a dental ( teeth cleaning and scaling, and extract any infected or loose teeth) Bad teeth are very common in small dogs. I just took my dachshund mix to the vet for a routine teeth cleaning, and when I went to get him,my vet laid 4 teeth on the table! He had four abscessed molars, and he didn't even have bad breath, and was eating normally! Thank God she found them,or I would have had a sick dog on my hands!

bad breath is common among all dogs. There isn't a whole lot you can do about it though. Local pet stores usually have something they claim helps make bad breath smell better but I've learned that using good high quality food and giving them something to chew on like raw hide (make sure you supervise them when they eat them so they don't choke) does the best work. If you want you can start brushing their teeth but as with humans, that's a temporary fix at best. Doggie breath is just something you get used to.

it sort of depends on the smell as well. if its REALLY bad it may be a tooth problem. my friends dogs breath was a very odd smell so they took him to the vet and one of his back teeth was infected.

Fffttt! To the people saying clean your dogs teeth. Not so easy done. I have a little dog and I used to give her raw chicken wings and her bad breath would go away instantly. she is too old to chew them anymore so bad breath it is.

Have the dogs teeth cleaned. Give greenies as a occasional treat. Make sure the dog isn't eating anything raunchy. (feces)
