We got this dog free out of the paper when he was aged about 18 months from a family that were moving to a unit. Now aged 6 he is great family dog. Very good with the children. I have no complaints except for when we walk him. I am not sure of his breeding but he weighs 40 kilos or so and is very strong. He displays very agressive behaviour towards other dogs when I walk him and goes beserk and is quite difficult to hold back. I use a gentle leader collar on him and sometimes a check chain which is harder to hold. Even though he cant breathe he will still do all he can to get to the other dog. It is very embarrassing and I am sure a little scary for other dog owners. If I am walking him and another dog owner has their dog off lead I have to call out to them to please put their dog on a lead as I am fearful that if their dog approached they would be killed. At home his obedience is good eg sit stay rollover etc . but around some dogs he just wont listen to me.Please provide training ideas

we have a 6 mnth lab and we can't get him to stop pulling on his leash. we've tried getting one of those collars that get tighter as they pull...didn't help. we've tried treats every time he's not pulling but once we pull out one he knows we have them and will sit until he get another one...anyone got any ideas or tips

how many dogs do you have?
what kind are they?
do they all get along?
how do you keep them happy?
how do u manage all of them on walks or bringing them from a to b?

i have 4 dogs, 3 tiny ones and one german shepard mix. they come to the horse stables with me every day and get an hour outside every day where they can run around like crazy. i do sometimes have difficulties walking them as 3 of them are still puppies.
they are all rescues so they all have their issues.
but we love them all dearly.

My sister just brought her pomeranian to the vet and he's 9 pounds. The vet said he should be 5. We like to give him treats once in awhile like after he goes potty. He only gets dry food so we like to treat him. We also got into the habit of giving him table food not realizing how bad it is for him. We cut out giving him table food but I was wondering what are some good dog treats that are low in fat?

We have a dog (Neil DIamond) and we think that is a mixed breed of Whippet and Chihuahua. I read that Chihuahuas can be up to 12 inches tall. He looks like a smaller version of a Whippet with a shorter nose. Can these two dogs breed?

I don't care, but this good looking lady looking over my shoulder just now wants to know. Is is okay to put out poison meat? or maybe a pellet gun? I don't want to hurt any animals, but, she is getting kind of ticked, (which I am sure you know is not good for me)

I don't know if I am just being a worrying person or if this should not really be allowed. I live next door to some neighbours who have two Staffordshire Terriers they are friendly and I have no problem with them. BUT they are kept outside for very long periods of time. Sunday night watching TV went outside about 7pm and they were out there. I was just about to go to bed about 12am and they were still out there, all throughout this time I checked to see if they had gone in or anyone had been out, I left my back door open so I could hear them but no-one had to my knowledge.
I know that they are left out there with a bowl of food and I think some water. But I still just don't think that dogs should be left outside all that time. They scrap at my fence when they see me and want so much attention it's like they are being taken care of but not really.
I don't know whether to talk to RSPCA about it and see if they are concerned or if I should just leave it?

any thoughts would be great!!

My boyfriends brother left his dog at their mothers home when his wife objected to him keeping the dog in their home last summer. Their mother grew tired of the dog, not able to care for it financially, and relocated to a place that didn't allow pets. Since then the dog has has remained with me for over a year now. I have been financailly responsible, and provide care of the dog (along w/ kids). My now ex boyfriend and his brother got mad this week b/c I allowed my ex husband to keep the dog for a bit. My daughter is there at her fathers back and forth and keeps the dog there to keep her company and he also wants to mate her for she is an expensive dog and he provides great care as well as financial means when the dog is in his care. Problem is, my ex boyfriends family is pissed about what I choose to do with the dog and mentioned taking the dog or selling him out from under me. I say the dog is mine since I provide for her and I have the right to do what I want. Who's right?

I have a chocolate lab who will be 4 in November. She is currently on her fifth ovulation cycle. We were originally going to breed her, but recently decided not to. Is it too late to fix her? If so, when will she stop ovulating?

What your secret, what food do you feed your dog, do you give them human food from time to time. How many walks do you take your dog per day? What brand of food would you recommend.
I owned few dogs before, 2 of them had diabetes when they're about 8, and completely blind by age 10- cataract. Most live about 11years. My son just got his first puppy, I just want to start off right this time.

I have a 12 weeks old Yorky, we tried to take him for evening walks, but all he does is lay flat on the ground, basically like a piece of rug, refuse to even walk one step, but he'll follow us without a leash, when we go for walks. I'm afriad one of these day he might get run over by a car. So what can I do to make him walk with a leash?

With regard to the dogs in rescue shelters, why is it always classed as the breeders fault they are there?
Is it not down to the irresponsible owners who get the dog then decide they cant cope or just dont want it any more?

I will probably get loads of violations for saying that but who cares, freedom of speech!!!!!

What about the millions of dogs that go off to live in happy permanent homes?
