I want to get one of these and I found a little 7mo on Craigslist to be rehomed nearby (I know to go check out the dog, where it's kept, conditions and health etc) so can someone please tell me about this breed? I love the way these guys look, and so far I've heard nothing bad about them. Usually I get my dogs from the pound, this is a first getting this guy from somewhere else. It's a family that apparently doesn't have time for the puppy (how sad) and our dog needs a friend to play with, preferrably a small one. Our dog is great with all other animals-- even the little ferrets.

I have a one year old golden retriever who is always jumping on my kitchen counters. She eats any food she can find there, and we're scared that one day she'll eat something important or harmful. She loves bottle caps (plastic ones) so one day we put a cap with a few drops of tobasco sauce on it on the counter and she got it, spit it out, then got it again and chewed it up, so tobasco sauce doesn't affect her very well. I need some suggestions on how to make her stop jumping on the counter. I really don't want anything that could hurt her, and I only want real answers please!
Thanks so much!

She is 8 years old and has always loved being outside and especially when we are out there. Now I have to put her on a leash and walk her down the street to even get her to pee. If I take her out in our backyard her tail is between her legs and she stays right up against me. If I take her down the driveway and walk out the street she will "pee" right away. She has recently been diagnosed with whipworms, and is being treated, but that shouldn't ahve anything to do with this problem.

I check through Craigslist's Pets section on a daily basis. At least three ads a day in my Northern NJ area, are from people who 'just got' a puppy a month ago, likely from a pet shop- and now they 'realize' that they just don't have enough time to take care of it and give it the attention it needs. Basically what they are saying is, "I didn't realize how much work and commitment it took to take care of an animal, and now I wanna give it back."
I just don't understand people. And namely, I don't understand a society that can't be real with themselves. Just 'any old person' should not be able to sell dogs. The people who 'dispense' dogs, as it were, should screen people, and check up on them. Not ONLY the shelters, but anyone who 'brokers' a dog.
I am tired of puppymills, and puppy auctions, and disposable dogs. Sick of it.

Let's say you bought a dog(any age older than 1month) from a reputable breeder and on her contract it says "This dog should not live soley outdoors". Well the breed loves the outdoors.

So what do you do? Obey the breeder?

Our malamute is 21 months old and has been on the same dog food for 9 months now. It is purina. Well for the last week he has been very gassy to the point we have to leave the room so it will air out. Can you give anything to a dog that is gassy. Or what can you do for a gassy dog.

I have an 8-month old black lab. I love him to death and would do anything to keep him. But I am a senior in high school and I work after school. He is pretty much alone in our backyard all day. He has had his shots, been neutered, been microchiped, and starts obedience school tomorrow. But his behavior is so bad I don't know if school will good enough. He continually jumps on us, no matter what we say or do. If he gets out front it takes us forever to get him to come back, the more we try the farther he runs. He consistently barks, which wouldn't be a problem, but our neighbors have already reported us to the state 3 times. As a last resort (we tried a spraybottle, newspaper/magazine, and bark collar) we got him a muzzle...he gets it off in about 10 seconds or less. Please help me, I am running out of options and if I can't control him we will have to get rid of him, especially because of our neighbors.

I have been wanting an English Bulldog since I was 11 or 12 years old. Im now 24. The time has come to seriously do my research and find out if it's the right dog for me. I have asked my best friend and he SEVERLY warned me NOT to get one b/c of health issues.(Skin, eyes, breathing problems ,bone structure, etc.) Are there any Bulldog owners out there who can tell me from 1st hand experience....is it really that bad ? My dog would be an inside dog. Only going outside for the bathroom, and walks. And to go in car rides with me to Petsmart ,and I'd like to take him to the beach (I live on the mississippi gulf coast)to walk around if it's not too hot outside. He would never be left outside chained to a tree, and never ride in the back of my truck. He would ride "shot gun", enjoying the A/C. I plan on treating this dog like a son.I just want to know if the horror stories about their health are true. Please help me out,and be completely honest, I can handle it.

I recieved a complaint letter from the LA Animal services( complaint from neighbor) saying my dog barks all day. He does not. Most of the day he is laying on the floor of my living room or swinging on the proch swing. I've been observing him. He has an average of 6 barks a day.
Average incedents:
incedent one: A racoon comes into our yard. Three barks, goes back to swinging on swing.
Incedent three: Stranger comes to our isolated area on a hill. Turns out he's lost. three barks.
I live in a dangerous neighborhood with gangs. I want him to bark if a stranger comes. Nieghbor is from elsewhere, I guess they don't have these problems.
If neighbor complains a second time my dog can be taken away. She does ot want him to make any noise at all. She does not even like it when we go in our own yard. What can I do to protect my dog! Help!
