I don't care, but this good looking lady looking over my shoulder just now wants to know. Is is okay to put out poison meat? or maybe a pellet gun? I don't want to hurt any animals, but, she is getting kind of ticked, (which I am sure you know is not good for me)

Motion activated water repellant. be sure to have a webcam setup to record the hilarity. Could be large fun on stray neighborhood children, or local door knockers on Saturday morning, as well.

Don't hurt the dog... but you can consider the pellet gun ... for the owner :-)

Instead, use your phone to take a picture of the dog messing up the yard. In most places there are leash laws and litter laws. You can call Animal Control.

If you have pictures, you can talk to the owner with prints. Then, when the dogs go again, take more pictures and go to Small Claims Court. If you ask for help, they will explain the process... Usually people listen after you take advantage of Small Claims.

It is never OK to poison or kill an animal - and it's illegal and if it were my animal and I found I'd press animal cruelty charges and file a lawsuit against you no matter what the circumstances. It's the owner's fault not the animal's. If she hasn't spoken to her neighbors, that the place to start (if necessary take a picture of the dog in action as proof). If that doesn't solve it, call the police and get the leash law enforced along with possibly charges related to damage to property.

Let the authorities handle it. Two wrongs never make a right.

LOL, look, I lived in a very very well neighborhood in Massachusetts (the good old times...) and the cutest house around was the house in the front of mine, and I don't know... I always noticed that there were dog #2 all around the house... One day I went to a close mall walking and when I was coming back home I noticed that the owners of the house put a lot, a lot of signs that said stuff like "my house's front is not a toilet for your dog," "keep my front clean," "No more dog poop please" and a lot... there were like 7 signs. LOL and they were made with attractive colors and stuff. It was fun but I think it worked. I didn't notice much dog crap in the front of my neighbor's house. Why don't u do the same?

First, it is best if you explain your frustrations to your neighbor and let them know that it will not be tolerated in the future (try to be as nice as possible). If it continues, call the cops. Most places have a leash law and a dog on your property (with or without the owner) is trespassing. Usually the cops will not do much but tell the person to stay off your property but is usually enough to scare them. If you have to call multiple times I believe they will be fined (at which point you should definately engage in some poo-smearing haha). Please don't hurt the dog though, it is really the dumb owner being irresponsible.

Harming an animal is against the law, first off. Do not do this.
Are you inside the city limits or outside the limits? Inside the city limits there should be a leash law, and if need be- you can complain about this.
Outside of the limits, you are going to have to confront the neighbor and tell her she needs to respect your property.

There are also sprays you can use to deter the animal from going in your yard, but that would be a large area to cover.

Red Hot full strength in a squirt bottle. After you've picked up and tossed his last mess in the offending neighbor's yard, put red hot in a spray bottle and spray on his spots. He'll be back to check his P-mail and will get the hint. You might have to be diligent at first and when it rains but it's natural, won't harm your lawn or garden. It's how I get rid of pests in mine.

It won't hurt the dog because he won't stick around and someone would be hard pressed to say you were mistreating an animal by putting down a natural detractant.

Ok, have you spoken kindly with the neighbor about this? If not, try that first. Also, I have seen people put signs out on their lawns indicating people should clean up after their dog.

If you speak to the neighbor and they are not cooperative, then have a second conversation with them (still being friendly) and explain that if you are going to have to continue to clean up their dog's messes, then you will have to return it to them so they will be aware of what a mess their dog is leaving. Then, pick the poop up, and either dump it on their yard or put it in a bag and set it over at their house for them to dispose of. I would think they would learn to confine their dog or to clean up after their dog.

The lady suggesting that can eat the poo for all I care.

Pick up the poo, take it back to the neighbors and put it on their front porch step with a note saying their dog left this by you but you're returning it to it's rightful owner.

Do it enough and the person will watch their pet more closely.

Any harm done to the dog can result in legal liability for you that you don't want to get into.

You don't have to hurt the dog when its the owner being irresponsible right? Its not like the innocent dog is making the conscious decision to poop in your yard!

So take pictures of the dog pooping your yard, present them to the owner. If the owner does nothing, call the cops. Its the law that the owner picks up after their pet, so help the police enforce it!

LOL~ I can just imagine her rage!

We had the same problem here (and we have 3 dogs of our own)...

Apparently the dog was also going to the other houses... one of the neighbors scooped up a bunch of #2, put it in a trash bag, and then proceeded to dump out the bag on the owners' front porch.

They now stay outside with the dog when it's time to 'go'.

Best of luck!

:)
