Don't buy, rescue. Lots of dachshund rescues around, believe me.

Give a dachsie a good forever home, worry about the name later (may even come with a cute name already).

By the way, anything but Oscar, Hershey, Schatzie, Heidi, or Slinky.

I fostered a pair of mini-dacschunds and always called them The Otters because they were inseparable and when they ran together they looked like they were little otters swimming in the water.

I also called them Dwarf Greyhounds since I have a Greyhound and they look surprisingly similar... except for the legs!

I suggest calling your puppy Otter. I love dachshunds!

I once had a dachshund named Strawberry. I've no idea why we named her that, but it fit her personality perfectly.
